Anyone know (to save me conducting some dull experiment) how much more petrol you can get in the tank when the bike (1150) is on the centrestand instead of sidestand?

Go on conduct the dull experiment - Where would we be now if Eddison, Lister, Watt, Marconi etc hadn't conducted some dull experiments ?

...sounds like an Irish accent to me!!! :D

I'd love to help, but..............

I've no side or centre stand :D :D :D

Fill up with diesel instead and you will get more in,as it is heavier and will settle more, especially as petrol is now much lighter than it used to be due to having no lead in it............

Snowy if you drill holes in the filler neck you can get more fuel in without worrying about side or center stand.

THIS is for a 1200 but it also works for the 1150.

:beerjug:

laughing bob,
The difference is proably accounted for by my higher latitude. Up here it is, on average, 5C colder so the petrol is denser.

Fingerlonger, Who said you could take this thread seriously. Honestly the gall of some folk

Well today I got 21.5 litres into my standard R1150GS tank when the bike was on the side stand. Considering the stated 22 litre capacity that's close enough for me. Why bother hoiking the bloody bike onto the main stand for the sake of a little extra petrol?

Mike

Why not just stay sat on the bike, fill it up, then get off the bike and put on the side stand (no petrol does not leak out of the overflow)????

Fill her up, that's a good man.

I personally don't give a monkeys how much extra goes in when it's standing. Cos to fill my Adventure tank to the top costs less than 4 quid.
And I don't have to fill it myself, thanks to all those hard working jinglies out here.
