bigger hand guards?

You mentioned 'Les sorted you out with bigger hand guards' Please post details of this and a pic if possible. I have BIG hands and the guards do not keep the wind blast off. Full on heated grips in -5 and 2" of snow and I'm cold:(

Was about to bolt on some rubber sheet extensions cut from mudflap material but if there's something designed for the job I'd be interested.

Roger.

I have family up in the area anyway so it just happened to be the nearest dealer as Chester Motorad was closed on the Monday I was looking around.

When I did go to SSB I found all the guys really helpful, they had the bike I wanted in stock and they looked after me.

I also had the first service done there and will probably return when the next service is due.

The dealer relationship is important to me when buying a bike, and to be honest, if my normal local dealer sold BMW then I would have bought from them !

Yup....I know what you mean and it'll give you a good excuse for a blast from time to time.

The guards are simply the bigger BMW versions. Instead of the grey tops I have on my guards, you take out one bolt, unclip the original grey gaurd and replace with a larger black one - I got the dealer to fit them when it went in for the first service as he had them in stock.

Sorry still cant work out how to post pics yet !!!

Great report and read, if that had been my luck mine would have been in the knackers yard :)

Id be interested to see pic's of the handguards as well.

To post a pic, make sure you have it on your PC somewhere and that its not too large. If you click 'post reply' as normal, then come down the page to 'manage attachments' click on that and a window will open allowing you to browse to your photo. Click upload and thats it done.

Hello,
Well nice bike looks the same as mine, apart from your guards, they look cool. And congrats on you coming out good on the crash. I know how it feels, had my gsa 3 weeks, was in France, on a country road , stop and idling with full top/side boxes loaded with mrs dxtans. When a horse came straight at us, I pulled away, but was in 2nd gear..doh ! the bike drop due to the weight and lack of speed, I jumped off pulled mrs dxtans off, the horse ran past the bike. Pulled the bike up, not a scratch/dent, well apart from a load of french mud all over the left pannier and a bit of pride.

Great thread, thanks for posting. Glad you made it after your smack! You certainly carry alot with you! I'm after those hand guards also, do you find they make a difference? Are they grey like the ones you replaced or black?

Paul.
