Picked my new to me '00 R1150GS. The shipping company have nicely dented the l/h side of the tank just next to the tank badge about 6" diameter, thanks guys!!. Still I reckon it is a fantastic bike even if it has 128,000kms on it and one owner. I might get a silver flash put on the side of the tank when I get the dent removed. I will not be pressurising the tank to do this as I tried that on my R80G/S and watched in amazement as the tank started to open out and the dents remained. What other options exist? Could I access it after I remove the filler cap? Or are there strengthening baffles down thye side of the tank?
To protect the tank in future I am looking at a tank blanket and my question is will a R1100GS tank blanket fitand are the tanks the same?

Thanks
Adrian

Sorry guys I have realised my this message is in the wrong forum. My apologies I am sure someone will come along soon and move it to the corect place. I am just a typical bloke who reads instructions after the fact.

Welcome to the forum Adrian.

Dont worry about posting in the wrong thread, I'll move it over for you to the Technical section.

Just a thought, and I know I've said this many times before to others, but if you become a site sponsor you'll find there are other sections within the site that will open doors to you. £ 12.00 to become a sponsor is all it needs, the links at the top of the page if you wish to use it. Well worth the money.

Enjoy your stay with us and congratulations on your new purchase, albeit a little damaged in transit, I'm sure you'll still enjoy the bike.

Keep posting, its good to have ou with us.

:)

Morning all, I have seen and read through this site a fair few times at home over "he who obeys shoulder", seems a nice, friendly place to be a part of so thought I would pop my little head in and say hi. Do and have been riding since October 05 but currently do not own a gs or any bmw bike for that matter however do think that they looks the mutts nuts and can see myself on a lovely 650gs in a few years to come when I have finished playing with the toys - sports bikes ;) and too old to get my body in such a riding position. Oh well, nuff bout me for now, really must get on, hope to enjoy my stay here and who knows maybe get to come along to a meet if that is what you guys and girls do on here :nenau

Hi Mate, welcome!
Re tak dent....why not get shipping company to replace as its their problem if they caused the damage???
Their insurance should pick up the tab, why give yourself the grief, get the monkey back on their back, not yours!
