Foot pump

Not sure if I should post this in the 'font of all knowledge' section but thought I would try hear first as I will be using this on my beloved 1100. I need a new foot pump for inflating my tyres. Bike mag last month recommended the Michelin twin pump but it gets crap reviews on Amazon. Anyone got a good one they can recommend I buy?
I apologise as I am aware this isn't the most exciting question ever but I would rather buy a good one first time round.

Buy a small 12V compressor, much easier and probably lighter than a foot-pump.

There's the odd crap report.. I've gone through 3 pumps in the last 12 months..( non michelin) Finally bought a michelin from halfords.. My idea is if its no good at least you can take it back.

I like to have a foot pump handy... The 12v pump i have is just for when i'm out on the bike

The michelin pump Looks ok and well made ...time will tell

Like your thinking, might go with the Michelin one then.
Your old girl is still very much loved by me. Really think she's a keeper but might have to send the seat of to be worked on to give my tail bone some relief. I've kept her well and she looks just as good as when I picked her up. She's the best of the GS's that I've had.
You still got the ZZR or have you moved on again?

I've got one of those Michelin twin pumps.....crap...would not buy another.

I have a cheap 12v compressor from eBay and double check the pressure with a gauge. The cheapo compressor is spot on accurate.

Paid nearly £30 for the twin pump and a fiver for the compressor....save your money..

Just been looking online.
Anyone got a Silverline jump starter air compressor. Seem good value and are mains run so can be plugged in in the garage. Any one tried them for bike Tyres / batteries?

I have a twin Michelin pump. After 6 years it leaks. 6 years may sound a lot but I must have used it no more than 40-50 times. I've searched extensively for a brand well-known to be good but never found one. Gonna subscribe to this thread in case anyone has a better idea.

Are you talking about to carry with you on the bike (in which case a footpump is probably the wrong choice), or for keeping in your garage to inflate before riding? (in which case, a footpump is probably the wrong choice)

As others have said, buy a plug in 12v pump.

I have one of these from maplins.

It can be used continuously for 40 mins and is manufactured from alloy and steel, including the internal pump impeller. It also runs virtually silent. A bargain for £19.99

Thanks for replies but if I don't have a 12v ciggy light to plug a powered pump into. Also all the 12v to mains adaptors don't seem to be rated for compressed air pumps. The bike is kept in the garage which has mains power. This leaves a choice of foot pump or mains run pump. Foot pumps all appear to be crap and I'm struggling to find a reasonably priced mains one.
The best value (cheapest) seems to be the silverline as above but would be interested in any ones experience with this. Or is there a proper 12v to mains adaptor that will not be over powered by plugging an air compressor into it.

I use a push bike pump, it even came with its own bracket to attach it to the frame and pressure gauge.

Old school is cool.

Still on the GTR and still loving it ( when the weather improves It'll get a bit more use)

Tried the Michelin footpump on the bike today... seems ok.... but as I said in a previous post, if it turns out to be crap it will be going back

That's the one I keep on the bike, and it does work... it's inflated 3 tyres after repairs up to now....

I've had a Michelin single pump for a few years now, been fine so far, gets used mostly to adjust/top up pressures. Compressor does the inflating of new tyres or if I'm doing car and van etc.

But I've also just got the Michelin 12v pump to keep in the car. Very impressed so far, as well as a pump, its got LED lights to see what your doing at night, and the pressure gauge is removable to use independent of the pump. Only time will tell for reliability. It is far more compact than an old hilka 12v pump I had before, but probably still too big to carry on a bike.

Thanks for all the advice. I bought the Maplin compressor as recommended by Deal. Looks good. Will also go for a Wilkinsons Ring one in the near future.

Where the 12v compressor scores is on a scorching day abroad, topping up a not so slow puncture, with the bike fully loaded...
