FOR ALL EES STUFF, QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, MOANS, JOYS AND ANYTHING ELSE

We went through Alicante in January & after 3 attempts of logging my fingerprints at first registration the machine spat me out & I had to go through manual stamping.
Alicante last week I was asked if I’d registered & as I hadn’t I went to the registration machines. On putting in my passport the machine said to go to an e-gate (no fingerprints taken). At the e-gate it was the usual procedure & I was in. So it seems that my fingerprints must have been taken back in January.
Leaving on Saturday was painless.

On a side note I’ve read today that the UK are introducing facial recognition for entry. Trialling it at E Mids & a few others then to Gatwick & some of the other bigger/busier airports.

Why do uk border force care how long your friend has been abroad?
Meanwhile
Inbound menorca ees operates after a fashion
I registered but not asked for fingerprints
Wife was and after 5 mins trying to get machine to register hers the helpful attendant just waved her on to next check with me
Outbound quick trip thru for photo no prints or dates stamped

I have no idea why BorderForce would be interested - can only think it is local thing as he departed from LPL as well, maybe also “of interest” with the amount of travelling he does?… Certainly nothing was said when departing Malaga. Interestingly his wife who was with him and had a few more available EU days was waved through

Ibiza* two weeks ago.

Wife and I stood at adjacent EES machines. On reading my passport I was told to go straight to the Egates - no registering required. My wife on the other hand had to go through the whole registering process/fingerprints etc, then told to go to the Egates.

Now then, this is the fourth airport that my wife and I have travelled through (always together) since the EES was introduced - Faro, Palma, Malaga and Ibiza. Due to machines not being in use or simply being waved through, Ibiza was the first time that we have actually been required to register.....or NOT in my case. I've had my photograph taken at Egates, but I have yet to be fingerprinted at any airport. We both used the Egates when leaving Ibiza, no problems.

.....  .......

* - Ibiza airport. The calmest, most hassle free airport, that we have used in years.

40 minute queue at Stockholm’s Arlanda airport for non-EU citizens to be processed and allowed entry. We were lucky that we were on the only aeroplane arriving at that time at that terminal or it would doubtless have been longer.

Arlanda was always slow (though not as bad as Copenhagen) for non Schengen flights.

I asked the exit passport check staff in Stockholm, if there was a quick way for them to check how many days I had been in the EU, over the past 180 days? No, was the answer, though they did try.

Just think, if Passport control staff were ALDI or LIDL checkout girls, you’d be through, or thrown through, in no time.

We had fingerprint scanners at work to get prints from scallywags and it was very important that the screen was cleaned with wipes before any prints were taken and then immediately after the prints had been taken, if they were not they would reject prints .
Brought it up with staff at Amsterdam Ferry Port and they said they had not been trained to do so , it could easily account for the scanners rejecting scans plus how many people a day are using the scanners , have they washed their hands since wiping their a*ses or blowing snot into them when they have a cold ?
Roll on the next lot of Covid spread by EES scanners

I have been coming to Stockholm (about six or seven times a year) for the past 45 years. The queuing in non-EU passport holders’ lines (post the imposition of the EU’s enhanced checks) is dismal.

But hey, we have a blue passport. Praise be.
Yes, it was always pretty slow though.

However it could all be fixed if the EU allowed Brits to use e gates, like we do for them, but of course they won’t as it’s part of our punishment beating.

They will no doubt be even keener to get us back in now that the French economy has gone tits up and Germany not far behind, so you may well get your wish.

British passport holders are able to use e-gates within the EU.

Last month, I registered on EES when entering Spain at Santander. Completing the questionnaire about being a self funding tourist. There was an assistant to hasten matters.

On exiting Spain I effectively used an e-gate and was processed without any assistance in seconds. Passport scanned, look into the camera, right paw on scanner. Green light.

At the Santander port, you park outside one of many portakabins, enter one end on foot and leave the other. Each shed has several scanners within, and a customs chap behind a desk to process anyone rejected. It worked fine but neither ferry was anywhere near capacity on 24 Sept and 8 Oct.
