Because you want it to be conclusive? but you cannot determine how much of a clattering the front end took from the pics, you can only speculate - would be good to talk to the owner of the bike directly and ask them what the circumstances were.

I put something 27,000 miles on my 2013 LC and now have 25,000 miles on my current one - neither bike has tried to kill me. I take heed of this latest service campaign and being a cautious sort of chap I take a look at the forks every so often.

I will wait for my recall appointment and in the meantime I see no reason to stop enjoying the bike and am looking forward to a trip up to the Dales in a few weeks and the Picos with my paramour at the end of August.

P.S. I have never said that a problem didn't exist - however the scaremongers on the internet just blow it out of all proportion, so a reality check is called for.

Yeah; and BMW chose spend millions and millions on a recall, because;

"some internet scaremongers just blew it out of all proportion"?

99% of riders (even those on this forum perhaps) would be anxious that "Crimping" and "push fit" for this safety critical part is a flawed design. (R1200GS 2013-today)

Apparently the fork legs are brought to you by Marzocchi the same company who brought you the R1200RT LC rear shock fiasco.

It is a flawed design that needs to be properly rectified on each and every single GS/GSA LC whether they are showing signs of imminent failure or not .

It is a prime example of cost cutting coming back to bite you in the arse and if it costs BMW £millions worldwide it will still be less than a few US based litigation cases if someone is severely injured or dies as a result of a crash that can be directly linked to this widely reported issue

I thought it was Sachs that made the Shocks for the RT fiasco? Marzocchi no longer make motorbike suspension i was told

Will just keep riding the thing (whilst checking the fork stanchions as part of the normal pre ride safety routine).

When I get a letter inviting me to attend my friendly Motorrad Dealer for the quality improvement upgrade I'll just book it in with them.
