This thing is batting on. Slightly delayed setting off but should be ok for the Eurostar. Coffee being drunk just now. Only lager available on this train. Might manage a beer when on the Eurostar.

Spent plenty of time at those speeds ( probably :D ) on the auto routes before the camera bollox infested France. Bloody great times layed on yer tank bag having it large. No beer involved at the same time tho. :beerjug:

Paris is a great city with some lovely buildings . Notre Damn is coming along well. The big pylon looks well from Trocadero.

I have edited this thread and trip report, so as to keep it (like the train) on track.

The London is shite (get it off your chest) can be found here:

Just about to depart from Gare de Lyon, Paris for Nice. These TGV are a bit posh.
Weather looks great for Nice.
We’re coming back to Paris in a couple of weeks for two nights before heading back to Yorkshire.

TGV trains across France are very good. I’ve used them for trips to Paris, Bruxelles, Amsterdam, Nice, Marseille and Avignon. Never had a duff experience.

Arrived in Nice and it’s warm, very warm. Sea Bream for dinner, a wander about a bit and a couple of pints, just the cheapest cooking lager as I couldn’t find a proper beer. That may well be a task for today.
Weather is very warm again so best keep hydrated. Going to find breakfast now.

A week in Nice now. Had a swim in the med followed by Calamari and shrimp for dinner with a couple of campari spritz. This is another city I like, I’m sure the weather helps me to like it here.
Going to Lyon on Wednesday for a couple of days, I did drive through it in 1979 but can’t say I’ve ever visited the place.

A visit to villafranche-sur-mer today. Cloudy but still very warm and the forecast rain never arrived. Not something one sees everyday but whilst having lunch a woman walked past with her goat on a lead.

Glenn, 0/10 for photography. You missed out most of the mobile crane with luffer. Not good enough. Must try harder :beerjug:

France’s third city, in order of size.

Nice place, with tip-top food.

The tunnel underneath is good….. but you are on a train.

We’ve used the tram a few times and the East-West line goes through a tunnel under the City from the port. I’ve mostly eaten seafood, calamari, shrimp, sea bass and sea bream so far. Moules are on the list for later in the week.

Nice train station this morning. Just waiting for the train to Monaco.
Am sure you will see some nice cars there. Got as far as Cannes and was supposed to go but the heat, traffic and scooters from all angles made us change our minds. Still regret not going.

Already seen a Ferrari estate!!! With a shocking paint job. Looks like it was painted with a corduroy cap.
