French Alps (but maybe Germany, too)

Although I never stick to a planned route and wouldn’t book a hotel more than 6 hrs in advance.

To be fair the prospect of more than a day on sauerkraut and Wiener schnitzel would have me heading back to France anyway.

Yeah but that wouldn’t work in places like Castellane where the hotel of choice will be booked up months in advance in the busy season .

And you don’t want to be eating that froggy muck . It’s bland, I tell you ! I read it here .
So many variables, and will Doc be in season ? Bloody hell

I really must get some new specs.

Ah well, did say it was my choice of route.

Well, you haven’t met Doc then, have you?

Doc would happily spend a solid week in Cochem, drinking rosé, whilst stationed in a hotel that he’d booked 10 months ahead of time.
Glad he’s branching out to French Alps, seeing that he’s going to Cochem in June too…
Man just can’t get enough of it.

Good reason not to go in the busy season.

Bland it may be but beats sauerkraut hands down.

Why is this in the Alps and Dolomites section🤔 , the Dolomites being in Italy aren't they? Asking for a friend. 😬

Because Doc originally wanted to go to the French Alps and probably still does. The French Alps covers a vast north to south tract from the mountains proper (ie alpine) down to the Mediterranean. For every bod who said, place XYZ is in France, we’d get some other bod saying, it’s in the Alps.

I hope this satisfies your friend.

Yes, yes. My friend is totally and utterly sated. . :D :101

:thumb @Doc, what are the latest plans then? Beyond Annecy that is.
Keep us posted lad!

Very Apt.

Ho ho.

Apt is a nice town. A couple of petrol stations, banks, post office, cafes, supermarket, chemist, A&E hospital, rugby club, good (large) regional market on Saturdays (get there early), decent parking down by the river (near the post office), good campsite.

A year or so ago, the road up and over Mont Ventoux was shut, right at the top, for a large redevelopment. I guess that is all finished now *

* Can’t be arsed to Google to find out.
