From a 1200 dohc to a 1150gsa?

I used to have a 1150 adv with the standard seat + a sheepskin cover. The wife and I spent 3 months on it around the USA and she seemed to think it comfortable enough. We didn't do huge days though, probably 4 or 5 hours a day and for this it was great.

I bought a spare adv seat and had it recovered and altered. It was about £200 all in incl the seat and the work. It raised it by maybe an inch and altered the pillion area. Both my wife and I are happy on it for pretty much any length of time. Also fitted aftermarket suspension like JB so overall height raised by 2-2.5" .. 5-6 cm. with both of us and luggage it compresses so that I am just about flat footed both sides. I am 182cm so you'd have no issues

Thanks Davey B

This is what i thought to make better passenger part and rise the front.

If you see from my photos i guess he made lower the front and rise the rear part of the seat

Ridden back to back the GSA's configuration is better.
The adv's lower 1st is much better.
The screen with tobinators is better.
I prefer the GS 6th, the GSA's is a bit short.

You may find the the 1150 a bit wheezy after a twin cam.

The 1150 was a great bike once, is still a good bike now, and is good enough for most people most of the time....but it's outdated now and it feels it.

My old 1150 gsa was by far the best bike I had and I miss it. Can't wait to get back to uk so I can buy another one:D

1150's are slow, heavy and outdated

They have no place in modern biking

I had a loan standard 1150 while my TC GSA was in for a service...

I was surprised how small it felt, it was a very diffrent riding experience, easier to thread through traffic due to its compact feel, the screen being further forward and lower gave a more naked bike feel (I like that) and if I needed to off-road there would be no hesitation in wanting to use that 1150 over my TC.

They are both very good at what they do but are different bikes IMO although I suspect thevGSA version may close that gap a little.

The suspension on the 1150 was rubbish compared to my ESA but Ohlins would fix that, mind you that 1150 did have 104k on the clock :D
