Hi all,

I'm brand new to this forum after getting myself an 09 F800gs which I've not even clocked up 500 miles on yet......but loving it

Weird thing though, when I had it delivered from N Oxford BMW it was fully serviced etc but I just noticed today whilst on a ride out in the rain that the front brake fluid reservoir was completely empty!! brake still worked though

Obviously I'll have to top up (not sure which fluid?) but does this mean a serious problem? I'm still learning motorcycle mechanics so not sure how much to worry

Any ideas/help appreciated

cheers

Must have a leak somewhere. Top up and hold pressure on to see where fluid is going. :thumb2
Just standard dot4 fluid manual says

Hello and welcome :beerjug: great bike those F8's :thumb:D

OK worry scale, you know you get those people that worry when they think there cup is half empty (compared to those that are half full). Well your reservoir is empty. :eek  :tears

Simple fix is to call N Oxford speak to a Manager, and I'm sure they would most Likely be glad to collect it and find the fault and fix it :thumby:

Most likely something simple, but why not let them check it out as it's all new to you, and fairly new from them, good luck :beerjug:

Ring Matt at NOG straight away. If you're going to ride the bike back to them, then top it up with dot4, if not, let them pick it up and sort it.

What you need to establish is. Has the fluid leaked away, have you worn the pads at an alarming rate, or was it never there. If it's leaked, then there should be evidence of leaking. If the pads have worn quickly, then you have another problem. If they simply failed to top it up after changing the fluid, then it's an easy fix.

Check the system. If its leaking, get it fixed.
If its not been leaking then top it up and give the dealers a fucking good talking to.

Did you take the top off to make sure it was really empty rather than full to the very top ?
