Hi All

Just noticed that my front brake is not activating the brake light and suspect the switch by the lever.

Two questions please:-

1 How do I test the switch to confirm my suspicions.

2 If I am right and it is the switch is it an easy fix

Going on a 2 week European tour this Sat (not on the 1150!) so if I do not reply for a while please accept my apologies....aim to fix on my return

Back from my tour now.

Can anyone help?

Unplug switch from connection with loom. Bridge the loom switch and the brake light should work.

Thanks for trying to help Neil, btu I don't understand what to do.

Mike,
Trace the wires back from the front microswitch to the first available connector.
Undo this connector, and on the wires that go back into the loom, use a paperclip to short the wires.

Now this should make the brake light go on/off as you connect/disconnect the paperclip.

Do not let this paperclip touch the chassis, as you may blow fuses.

Just a thought - has your front brake master cylinder been leaking? My front brake switch is dodgy from brake fluid. I give the micro switch a blast with WD40 and it comes good again.
