As some of you will already know, a number of reports have been submitted to VOSA, the government vehicle safety agency, detailing failure incidents involving the dreaded fuel pump controller on the 1200GS/GSA.

Following VOSA's involvement BMW UK consulted with BMW Germany who referred the matter to the BMW safety committee and discussions between the various bodies have been "ongoing" for more than six months. However I spoke today to the VOSA case officer dealing with this matter and his words were,

"Good news."

He said he couldn't go into it further, that the information is confidential until it was released.

I feel that last week's MCN exposé coupled with the follow-up that's likely to be in this week's issue has focused minds at BMW UK.

I might be optimistic and I do hope I am not being premature, but I am hoping BMW will do the right thing and recall all 1200GS and 1200GSA bikes from 2004 onwards to replace the FPC free-of-charge.

Great news if correct Tim. Respect to You for devoting so much time and effort to making BMW do the correct thing and sort the FPC out :clap:clap:clap

Well done a lot of hard work, lets hope it is the news we all want.

and thank you

Well done Tim, you’ve been prime mover on this :bow

+1 for doing a great job. AFAIK no one else bothered, and lots of us (will) have (had) the FPC going bust ! Hurray for Tim ! :clap :clap

Well done Tim, but as you know it's not just the GS that has been affected.

Excellent news Tim - especially after your work on this issue.

One wonders what could be construed as 'Good News' in this situation though eh?

:thumbI cant wait for the official release of the news. I will be honest here and say that the FPC was a major concern of mine when buying the GS. You only have to look at my first few posts. If this gets resolved then i will for one will sleep a lot easier.

Superb work mate :beerjug:

They can save themselves the hassle of a recall and just give me a spare in case the failed one I replaced at my own expense goes again.

I agree, just a voucher to collect a free one from my dealer would suit me.

Good effort Tim.

Can't find anything on the MCN website, will someone scan and post the article please?
