Oooh, count me in... I might get way with a long weekend pass for a bike trip from my current wife if you get the same from your Ayatollah!

Quentin (formerly of this parish) has booked the Hotel Franco-Belge in Monthermé for four nights from Thursday 5/8/27. It’s about 30 min drive from Gedinne. He has stayed there before.
There are some Airbnb places nearby but similar price to hotel (according to him).

The campsite in Gedinne is OK.
The campsite at the circuit is OK, costing EUR 5 in full, for the duration, irrespective of the number of the number of nights you stay. It is though free for anyone on a motorcycle. The showers are EUR 2 and the WC’s EUR 0.5.
The roads into the circuit are closed during the races and, I assume, for a period afterwards. That said, there is an access road which is open 24/7. It is a couple of miles (I pedalled it) from the middle of Gedinne village.
On the N95 from the direction of Gedinne, turn left onto Rue du Bailet and follow it along. The circuit campsite is on your left.

Hints and tips about Gedinne itself
Gedinne is not a large place, little more than a large village really.
Camping: The campsite ‘Charlie’s’ is good. It has a reasonably popular bar / restaurant (open Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and a pool. The restaurant serves breakfast, but maybe only on the days that the restaurant is open. It’s about 10 to 15 minutes walk from the campsite into the middle of Gedinne village, pretty much flat all the way.
Restaurant: The hotel De La Poste, in the middle of town is open, but do book a table as it fills up. I phoned the restaurant ahead of our visit on Sunday evening, making a reservation for the five of us. We saw some bods turned away at 20:00 as the place was full.
Bar: The town’s bar is opposite the hotel.
ATM: There is an ATM in the post office, again in the middle of town.
Fuel: There is a small petrol station, open 24/7, on the way out of town when heading towards the supermarket.
Supermarket: On the outskirts of Gedinne. It is not large, but it’s good enough for most things. Unusually, it is open on Sunday, at least until lunchtime.
Chemist: There’s one in the middle of town.
General store / off licence: There’s one in the middle of town, which seems to be permanently open.
In short, bar the supermarket and the fuel station, everything is near enough within 150 metres of the middle of Gedinne. The supermarket took me about five minutes to bicycle to, starting from the restaurant.

The campsite at the circuit opens officially on Thursday, though some do arrive on Wednesday. It fills up through Friday and into Saturday morning, being pretty much full by Saturday lunchtime, though there is an overspill into the field above.
Entry price for the racing is EUR 40 for the whole event, pus EUR 5 to park a motorhome / car. Bikes are parked for free.
The bar is open most of the time and has a live band in the evening.
Buy beer vouchers from the bar, anytime after noon on Thursday.
If you want a T-shirt or similar, buy one on arrival.
The food concessions are reasonably priced and located in the paddock area. Burgers, chips, pizza ie. the usual stuff.

Well, I enjoyed it so much this year (arrived home yesterday) that if I am able I would really like to do it again next year. I felt for John, whose tent got flooded on the first day; but he dealt with it and carried on regardless. And I must try to find out the name of that lad in the last but one race of day 1, who Alistairm said would ‘win it or break the bike trying’ he came from behind the entire field to second in the first lap, and went on to win by a country mile. I think he has a great future in motorcycle racing and it would be interesting to see his progress.
