Well, that was a good day. Although in running it in (ish

), I can't notice that much difference in the handling or acceleration between this, and the GS.
The keyless ride, which seems like a gimmick, is something that you soon become used to. No more fumbling for keys/ removing gloves when stopping. Just walk up to the bike, hit the button and off you go. There is talk in the manual about central locking, so I'd expect to see panniers also locking/ unlocking via the same system, once BMW eventually sort out their lock shortage problem. BMW has built in some contingency should it fail, so for the time being, I'm pleased with it.
The gear shift assist seems to be smoother than on the bikes with it fit at the dealer. Confusion over software enabling codes at some dealers is obviously affecting the operation of it. Downshifts were smoother without the clutch and you don't have to put as much pressure on the gear lever as on my last bike. Only once did I have a bad gear change between third and fourth, but that was my fault, as I rolled off slightly, and you need an open throttle for it to operate correctly.
I'm looking forward to getting some miles on the bike, and you never know, I might hang on to this one for more than five minutes!
