Yes.It's time to get some space assistance for my 1150.So before I send my mad money into orbit along with the satelites, I thought I'd get some help.
I know next to nothing about GPS. From what I read, I focus on GARMIN Streetpilot III and BMW Navigator II.
Help me guys.

Slider unless you intend to wander into europe then you may be wasting your money. Mapping for Greece is fairly poor. Off to Kefalonia shortly and the mapping is next to useless. World Map offers a bit of detail but not very much.

The Garmin SPIII and the BMW Navigator (the first one) are similar.

The Garmin SP2610 and the BMW Navigator II are similar except the BMW has an additional left side button pad.

All of these units come with a mapset that does 'turn by turn' autorouting.
All are waterproof and all are made by Garmin.
The SP2610/Nav II is a later model with a touch screen, faster route calculation and bigger memory card.

This is a journey; keep asking questions, play with the units you are interested in and ask more questions.

Be careful - you could be on the road to financial ruin :D Since Xmas I've had Garmin V, a StreetPilot 111 and now a StreetPilot 2610. All worked great on the bike, all have been part-exchanged for a better model, and each one costs almost 2X the one before. I've had the 2610 for just over a week, but if you've got around £750 to spend, it's definitely the DBs. Much cheaper memory expansion (I've got over 2GB of CF cards for my digital cameras), much quicker calculating of routes, and particularly re-routing when you decide to go down some inviting track instead of the way it wanted you to go. Also some nice extra touches like overlaid details of speed, time to destination, time & distance to next turning on the map view. One other useful extra - the voice prompts are louder than the 111 (I could just hear them OK on max volume at 80+ mph) , so I can hear them easily through my ear plugs. All in all - well pleased.

Regards.

Charles
