We're looking at going in early March - can anyone recommend an area, hotel or villa that not a huge all inclusive mega resort? everything I've looked at seems to have hundreds of rooms, whereas I tend to think more than 20 is a lot, and is in the middle of a whole lot of other big resort hotels. Something either out in countryside, doesn't have to be near the sea at all, and in a nice small town/village. Are there such things?

I've only ever been to the Canaries diving and we stayed with friends so I don't really know my way around

Me and @Stevie4scoops stayed here last Feb. Up in the hills in Artenera in Gran Canaria. Stunning place

Lovely roof terrace with loungers for a sundowner .Was only about £80 per night

You’d definitely need a car though.

But most of the coastal resorts are a tad naff

This might be of interest for Lanzarotte:

I can recommend the Paradisus Salinas in Lanzarote.

We liked it so much when we were here in February that we returned this week. The hotel has everything for a chilled all inclusive adults only experience. The food, rooms, staff and facilities are excellent. Salt water pool too.

There’s little to recommend about the Costa Teguise resort where the hotel sits but then again, there’s no need to leave the hotel.

Costa Teguise was where I was based for diving.

I wouldn’t rush back but the hotel looks nice
