GS 1100 CLUTCH CABLE

Yep, dead easy just feed the new one down following the old one. Attach both ends then adjust the clutch to give the 7mm of play at the lever as described in the R1100 service manual here:

(BMW__R1100RT RS,GS,R Repair_Manual_2000, should be the right one)

Looks like page 44: Checking/adjusting clutch operating clearance
(Inspection I, II, III)

1100 clutch cable

It is quite straightforward, just make sure that the routing is correct and that you leave free play at the leaver

....and just make sure it is your cable that is broke not the clutch actuator arm at the gearbox end.... feels like a broken cable, behaves like a broken cable but isn't a broken cable...:thumb

Just thought i'd point out - The important lever in question is the clutch lever on the rear of the gearbox, not just the handlebar lever ;)

clutch cable

Hi guys, just wanna check if anyone has done the upgrade on the higher riser.
has anyone have any problem with the length of the clutch cable??
are the oem ones enough?? or do you have to change out for a longer ones??
if you need the longer ones, where can i get it??

cheers!!!:hug:ronno

Got bar risers on mine - no problem for the clutch cable just be careful with the brake lines. Depending on how much of a rise you are making it can put a strain on the brake lines.

Hi, actually i have got the brake hose lengthen by about 3" hence i have got lotz of clearance but now the clutch cable is a real headache....

Follow it down the frame and loosen some of the zip ties and pull some slack up towards the handle bars - there should be enough slack in it. I've never heard of anyone fitting or even obtaining a lengthened clutch cable. Are you talking 1100 or 1150 with hydraulic clutch?
