Its a slow black one ! I don't intend to change the panniers , just wondered if they were up to the job really (no RTW planned at the mo) good news is it comes with the orig. pipe.
Well you lot, thanks very much for making me part with a heap of cash ! - seriously thanks for all your posts they have been very helpful. I hope I can finalise the deal over the next few days.
I traded it in, it was like new, got good money. The only reason it went in was because winter was approaching and I'd probably be using the 650 Dakar more, also we were busy getting the 650's ready, and planning our trip, to set off in March 05 and be back in the UK for winter again! I've got my name on the first 1200 Adventure in at Rainbow (Ordered it the day the 1200GS was announced!, knowing there'd be an Adventure version out sooner or later)...
... so I really wasn't going to use the 1150 Adventure for twelve months, and then would be swapping it. Also the money for it was sat in the bank in case we ran into any troubles while away for over five months.
I didn't plan all this, it's just how it's panned out
New 1200 Adventure 1st April...
... hernia operation 9th March
I bought mine with a Y piece + remus and was worried about the 1st MOT , in the end I thought I'd take a chance .
The guys at the garage said they don't test bikes for emmissions so I was glad I didn't p*ss about with the BM cat & can in the end.
I'm not sure about the noise regs though , mine was allways er...fruity shall we say , but when I fitted my frames for the H&B panniers the cross brace is about 4inches behind the can opening . Bloody hell !! its a right granny scarer now.
I 've had great fun starting her up in outside shops etc !!
Big dissapointment - I have just found out that fully comp insurance in the Czech Republic will cost me almost £3000 !!! - no way am I going to pay that, TPFT is almost a £1000!!! I cannot take the risk of buying a £8000 bike without at least having it covered for theft. I will never complain about UK insurance companies again. Can you belive these prices - I have a clean licence no claims and the bike will be kept in a hotel garage that is built like Fort Knox - guess I will have to wait until I get back to the UK
Although just posted a massive rant in the "build quality " thread about corrosion i must say that mechanically its bin sound and is superb to ride fulfilling all my requirements for big trips abroad easily despite said niggles.....
