Hi All

I'm new to all this BMW stuff (so is my GS...only 350 miles so far!!) having been a Honda man (and still am) upto now!!!

I think the concept and styling of the bike is great but I am concerned though about the build quality of the bike and attitude of the dealers already.

The reason...the grab rail at the rear was lose and when I went to tighten the srews one of the threads was stripped, fortunately on the screw....On fitting Hepco and Becker engine bars the screws securing the rear subframe were lose.....

The other problem is that the reserve warning light comes on at about 130 miles (fuel consumption around 50 mpg and tank topped up prior to run ) and the indicator starts to count down at an alarming rate...this has happened twice now. Both times when the indicator (range) was showing 6 miles left and I had covered about 160 miles it took about 15 litres to top the tank up.
Which to me indicates there was still about 5 litres left in the tank and that at 50 mpg the display is about 50 miles out.

However I was passing the dealers on friday and popped in to mention these points and was greated almost with "they are all a bit like that"...... surely not!! It seems I might have a battle on my hands to get this put right already.

I appreciate this is only a guide but to be so far out worries me... I have mates with the same feature on their bike and that when it says the tank is empty the tank is emtpy!!!!!

Anyone out there had the same problem?????

Cheers G

Never trusted the fuel gauge on my 1150, have always used the trip as on every other bike I have had. Now you know that you have around 5 ltrs left on empty you should not run out. (hopefully)

Don't worry about the gauge they are only a guide anyway and at least you found the loose bolts before the subframe fell off so it's not all bad.:D

And hey! - It's only a 10 grand bike. You could have bought a Harley...
