Would like a bit help if possible father has an GS1150 clutch was changed in it just before the Dragon rally in Feb. This week it has developed a realy loud horrible rattle when in gear. In neutral there is no noise at all as soon as first or second gear is engaged the noise starts. We were thinking along the lines of release bearing or a pinion bearing on the way out. We'll have it apart soon but was wondering if there are any common components that fail on the 1150 that would give these symptoms.

thanks

What year as early boxes had 'issues', take it you have checked oil etc in box and FD?

Does it make the noise on the centre stand? (careful! )

The bike is an 01 model ( i think on Y plate) and the oil is clean but frothy with engine running as you'd expect. The noise is like a shaft or something is turning but shouldn't be strange way of explaining it but in neutral no noise at all. As soon as gears are engaged the noise starts

Don't know if it makes the noise on the centre stand but should imagine so as it makes it as you drive along. Don't know if it's any different on the sidestand

The early 1100 models had gearbox issues, not the 1150.

Is this noise heard when riding or when the bike is in gear on the main stand or in gear with the clutch pulled in while stationary.
