GSA 2016 Front end road noise

Is driving me mad on my GS too, never had this on my old 2009 gsa. Am lutting it down to the anakees too based on all i hear, tyres will come off after my trip so then starts the long decision process what to replace them with!

I had Metzeller Tourance exp on my previous 2010GS and there were quiet as well as with very good grip on dry and wet

Interestingly, I've just swapped my 2015 Triumph Explorer for a 2017 gen 2 Explorer. Between 35mph and 60mph there is one hell of an annoying noise coming from the front end.

Definitely wind or road orientated. I'm not sure if it's the tyres (Tourance Next) or the way the airflow passes over something.

This never occurred on the 2015 model and they are almost Identical at the front end. Apart from, the front beak being slightly different and wire wheels. My favourites at this time are the wire wheels. I'm going to have to ride one with cast wheels to compare.

So as people have already said, front end noise is definitely tyre related. From my experience I can tell you that TKC-70 don't make any noise and that PR4's do. The latter tyre came recommended to me, but I don't like them and interestingly recently went on a Bike Safe course where the copper told me that police riders were refusing to use them (handling rather than noise!). I'll be trying Avon Trailriders next as they got a good write up on here a while back (no noise). Becomes an expensive exercise all this tyre swapping.

So the TKC 70's didn't impress? There seems to be a discrepancy of opinions regarding this tyre. A bit like marmite... some love it other hate it. Some report the front wheel "weave" others don't mention it at all. Funny enough, not a single test has mention this front wheel weave!

It's the PR4 that I don't like. TCK70 was good for me. Only changed as I got a flat and believed that I "needed" to change to a PR4 as it was a much better tyre. Still regret it.

Great to hear that, cheers. I've wrote on a post on here as well that Metzeler now do the original Tourance but for the LC, I did like them on my first 2008 GS. Look forward to the arrival of the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, They were supposed to be on the market last Jan but nothing has arrived so far. I would like a bit more offroad rating than just the 10% but it will be to much compromise to go for the Anakee Wild or even the Karoo 3's. Not only they will noisy but I won't get a decent mileage with them as I head down to Spain and Portugal in the summer.

Decisions, decisions...

Someone posted up on a Facebook page saying they had just got some but I think it was in America, they do look a really good tyre and I have asked for a write up from him after he has done some mls on them so fingers crossed it wont be long for a reply .

My thoughts exactly.

Fitted new Avon trailriders today to replace original anakees on 16 reg gs noted big difference in noise level hardly any now
Well impressed

Have Michelin Anakee Wild tyres on my R1150GS and over 40mph on the road the noise is horrendous. I'm sure that the TKC80 tyre that I had before were not as noisy but they wore out so quickly which is why I went for the Michelins this time.

Had noise with annakee and pr4,
fitted avon trailriders no noise even without earplugs, bonus is more stable and smoother ride,
Roamer

Replaced Anakee 3s with Metz Tourance Nexts

Tend to stick with what I've had, my 2013 GS came with the Metz & I found them ok,
When I bought my 2016 GS it came with the Anakees, no big issues but did notice the noise.
Just changed both @7250 (slightly overdue) considered the Scorpion trails after reading great reviews but was slightly put off when Placing an order was told "we dont sell many of those, but I can get you some" so I went back to Metz.
TBH they make noise too.
Dont think it makes much odds, unless you aren't wearing earplugs.

I always wear earplugs but as I'm changing tyres soon trying to get a decent compromise between road & dirt. In the past I had some tourance and did like them but lots of guys are singing praises to the Avons Trailriders that if they are ok on dirt track I might give them a try.
