Does anyone have a GSA with the enduro gearbox , as I am trying to find out the real difference ?
cheers Rich

gearbox

I had enduro box on 2010 gsa I recently.bought a 2012 plate without,i think the enduro box was helpful two up fully loaded pulling away uphill( but you soon adapt to giving it a bit more throttle),but apart from that can not feel any difference, and yes its only first gear thats lower

Great on 1150's if used in traffic or off road as they have such a high bottom gear. I changed the bevel box on my 1150 dunno if thats an option on 1200's

I factory ordered my 2010 GSA30 with the enduro box and rode alongside a friend on his standard 1200GSA at tickover and his bike was considerably faster in first gear than mine in the ASDA carpark!:thumb

FP.

2010 GSA with enduro gearbox.

As already said only first gear is lower.

I have found it advantage especially in Crete over the mountain passes with their tight hairpin bends (and variable surface quality). No need to slip clutch ever. It is an advantage for all slow manoeuvres and filtering.:rob

As conclusive a test as is needed to prove the benefits of the ENDURO box  ;)

I know its only 1st gear , :blast would anyone who has one like to do me a little test, ride in 1st gear at 5000 revs and let me know the speed , if possible the speed on the Zumo if you have one .
regards in advance Rich :thumb2

It's not going to be a big difference in speed. By my calculations, at 5k rpm in first gear a standard box will give you 31.3 mph while an Enduro box will give 28.6 mph (i.e. just under 10% slower).

Had the Enduro box on my 2009 GSA........ made very slow and technical riding (gnarly roads) a breeze, however I mostly pulled away in 2nd gear during normal riding as the 1st was just too short.

My 2011 GSA over here has normal 1st gear - no hassles at all and for normal riding it's perfect........
