I have an S1000R and can tell you if you want to do any touring the GS will be much better. The S will sit on the road ok but do you really want to be listening to that engine on the highway for a long time?

The GS is easier to carry luggage on depending on how much you have to carry of course .

Ordered a replacement GS.

Everything to be transferred from my old bike, so Nav 5, panniers, camel toe, bar risers, driving lights - hopefully NOT the electrical fault.

Engine bars ordered too.

Thought about Akra pipe but not at that price.

Courtesy bike till 23rd then pick her up.

So all sorted.

Thanks for all the input and to Ben Perry at BMW Motorrad who got it all sorted.

I hope that the relationship can be rebuilt with Chester Motorrad too now.

Excellent news. Good luck with the new one.

I was only thinking as I was riding mine today what a truly unbeatable all round bike they are.

That's what I was thinking too ...

A very good choice sir. We all from the GS owners support club would like to second your choice for the best all round bike currently. Now for some radiator guards.

Pick her up tomorrow - hope it frigging starts!

All sorted at last so, if you see me broke down anywhere, give us a wave.

You mustn't think like that.

I'm a great believer in the power of positive thinking.

If anyone deserves trouble free biking its you.

That's great. Is it a regular GS or a Triple Black?

Alpine White TE - again as before. I like the colour!

Really the previous bike was great apart from the one issue and I'm sure that, once fully sorted, it'll be fine for the next person.

Picked her up this morning from Chester Motorrad, who have been great over the rejection to be fair.

Had chosen the lower seat but it felt very strange since the bar risers had been moved from the previous bike, so went back this afternoon to get the higher seat instead. I'd forgotten about those!

Absolutely delighted to be back on a GS again after two months with no bike - I turned down a loan bike last week because it was so cold at the start of the week.

Anyway, love the new bike and so relieved that it is now all resolved - so a fresh start.

Thanks again everyone. At first I really thought that I was overreacting but the real frustration was the length of time that it had all dragged on.

Anyway - really chuffed now and starting to plan for the next tour with some mates.

Nothing more useful to add so see you on the road hopefully!
