Looks like the DFDS service to Denmark is ceasing at the end of September.
Looks like a long ride round from October.

That's bad news for all wanting to do Norway and Sweden :-(

Thankfully doing those two this august. without the ferry worked out about 800+ miles extra and an extra night in accomodation:(

Got a link?

There's always DFDS Immingham - Brevik / Immingham - Gothenburg to think about

Immingham to Brevik Ferry

I used the Immingham to Brevik Ferry last year. It was a last minute trip by car, to visit my son and take some of his kit, to his new home in Norway. I only booked about 12 days before I wished to travel and there was space available for the date I wanted. The ferry only has 12 two berth cabins, if I remember correctly. It is a RoRo container ship not a ferry and Lorry Drivers have priority for cabin accommodation. As part of this trip I decided to travel back via the Malmo Bridge and Channel Tunnel, to see what it was like, I enjoyed it, for the experience, but it takes forever, four nights camping and average 375 miles day driving. Added to this, the journey back was in October and finding campsites that were open was problematic.

My friend and I have been to the North Cape before, but he decided we need to go again (before I get to old to ride a bike). I'm retired, so can be flexible on travel dates haha, but my mate, he still works and we therefore had to book travel arrangements well in advance. I tried to book the Immingham Ferry, but they would not take any bookings more than 4 to 6 weeks in advance. If you can be flexible on travel dates and travel at short notice then the Immingham ferry is worth a try, I may try to use it again later this year, travelling by car to visit my son.

For this years Bike trip North, we've booked the Harwich to Esbjerg ferry (expensive), riding north through Denmark to Hirtshals and taking the ferry to Kristiansand. We originally planned to go North via the Malmo Bridge, but I found the Fjordline Ferry (fastcat) is only 36 euro for a bike and rider. I booked direct through the Fjordline website. Ferries dates booked, then three weeks for our trip, no real plans other than the Nordkapp at some point, on the basis, that if we don't know where we are going, we can't get lost.

Hope this info is useful, real sad if the Harwich to Esbjerg finishes. I had plans for Iceland next year. Fly and hiring a bike in Iceland is so,so,so expensive.

We went to Iceland a couple of years ago using the ferries, THAT was bloody expensive, partly down to cabin meals etc ...well I was on honeymoon!

Going again next year and doubt it cost any more to ship the bikes and fly.
