Hi, RB, :beerjug:

I have the BMW fitted when purchased with the standard two heat settings, I have heard of quite a few people using the oxford ones on various bikes relatively easy to fit.

I,m sure others have more ideas :thumb2

:D

I know bmw ones are more expensive but they seem to be much neater with no wirers trailing.I have had various heated grips on lots of bikes fjr fazer 1000 bandit 1200 capponord + + and 6or7 bmws and they seem to be neater. JJH

I've fitted a set of oxford heated grips to my kawasaki ER6F. I can't imagine its muc h different to fitting it to a 650gs. Was really easy, the hardest bit was removing the stock bar grips. Other than that not a problem! Does make the grips slightly thicker than standard but I liked that!

Hope this helps, any more question PM me! :)

Thanks Guys but I was hoping to hear from someone who has actually fitted heated grips to a F650GS, Ive fitted the Oxford ones to various bikes myself but the 650 seems to have a plastic sleeve on the left hand switch assembly :nenau

Fitted Symtec to my F800GS work reasonably well but had to get new grips got R1150 throttle side grips for both sides will need the large grip to go over the element.
fitted the switch in the panel drilled hole opposite the power socket and wired the power into the power socket at the back the socket goes off when the ignition is switched off.

Managed it...

Took a couple of hours, but with a little bit of cutting and Filing I made it happen. Nothing like any other bike so if you need any advice drop me a line..

Heated grips? Don't make me laugh!

Hola ..

Has anyone got a definitive reason why grips pack up??

Mine were working, then the throttle side gave up, then they were again but the RH grip was on at full power, but cold at half power and wouldn't go back to full until after the ignition had been switched off... and now the RHS is completely AWOL.

Canbus issue or a physical failure??

I took mine into Rainbow BMW to get the dead left grip sorted. It turned out that the grip itself was okay so they spent several hours doing diagnostics to find the problem. I came away with two warm hands but my wallet was £120 lighter.

They also did the latest EMS software update. It cured all of the poor fuelling problems and rough running that has dogged me since Turkey, so I was happy on that front.:)

Mine are dreamy and get used every day. That and Muffs are the only reason I still have fingers!

If you're getting weird issues I'd suspect the controller, not the grips.

I've just had a look at the circuit diagram - it's got to be a controller /canbus issue as the grip has continuity - it's a thin-film printed circuit with only one supply cable, so the temp level is switched by the computer rather than a variable resistor in what might be called a 'conventional' sense...

How a dealer can take 2 hours to diagnose though is a mystery ... surely you just plug the bike in, read the codes and re-set whatever needs resetting ...

Dark arts are often a convenient money spinner ...

Buy some warmer gloves! :augie

That's f.... f.....ff...... funny ....:boobies

T'was yesterday -1c, Wimborne/Stroud/Swindon/Wimborne ... the trip to SwineDon was to get gloves from Whites, I ended up buying a pair of Oxford 'thermal' inner gloves - biggest heap of shite I could have wasted a tenner on ...

I might even send them back to Oxford with a little performance and appraisal report:forry

Rode 325 miles yesterday,Yorkshire Dales N.york Moors, fish&chips in whitby then back home, mostly in minus temps.Muffs and heated grips kept my hands
toasty---TOO TOASTY!!
When I got home I discovered what I thought was seams in gloves rubbing, was actually BURNS! Blisters on the palms and fingers of both hands!
BEWARE!!!! OUCH!!:blast
