Hi All

Just a quick self-introduction and request for information ...

I live in North Devon (currently Exmoor but about to move to the Barnstaple area) and bought an 1100 GS in July after passing my direct access etc as a fifty-year-old returnee to biking. So far I've been to Scotland (Skye via Glasgow and old friends), the Forest of Dean and the Peak District adding some 3,500 miles to the clock. I am beginning to feel at home on the bike and have posted some comments to that effect on the beginner’s forum. The only alterations I have made are to fit a pair of BMW plastic side panniers and a pair of Conti Roadmasters which seem just fine.

While I am happy with my road-craft (on-going learning process!), I do need help with handling the 1100 off-road/rough track. Are there any courses in the South West that could help?

Also, I would like to find a seat back rest that I could fit to help my 11-year old stay on the bike during the occasional school run across Exmoor. Any suggestions on parts, makes and suppliers?

Thanks,

Ross

Welcome aboard.

To learn more about off-roading you could come join us this weekend at Princetown. See other thread from Dave.

For seat back rest you could get a Givi top box and add the pillion pad. I use this with my son and it works well.

Hope to meet up soon.

Cheers

Sid

Hiya Ross welcome to the site.

The MBW off road course was some of the best £300 odd quid I've ever spent.

Read some of the reports on here. Fantastic instruction and a whale of a time smacking up other peoples bikes. :D:thumb2

Top Box

Hi Ross,

Welcome, I am with sid with the top box idea, we are two up most weekends and Val would not be happy without the safety of the top box behind her, she even falls a sleep on the back.

Why no pop along to Princetown on Dartmoor, as there will be a gathering of GSers there over the weekend, all with many mod's, you may even find one with a back rest!!!! We are meeting up Friday night to Sunday morning, there is camping at the pub (Plume of Feathers) and a mega raffle on Saturday night with lots of GS type things to win.
