With my son, Gadi, we are restoring a 95' Kawasaki ZR550 Zephyr (Fanum's former hack) for him to use as a conmuter (so I can have my car back!!).
All done, electrics, engine, cosmetics, etc.
Except the front brakes: Calipers fully reconditioned, new braided lines, all bits of the master cylinder replaced. The lot.
However, the master cilinder refuses to build preassure. We use a Mytac thingy to bleed the system but so far, nada. The presure does not build and the lever is as limpas a dick cought in the act by the hausband.
The only bit we haven't replaced is the rubber diaphragma on the master reservoir.

Any suggestiosn, please?
Is the only bit remaining to go for an MOT.

Cheers, Yosi+ Gadi

It sounds like you used a master cylinder rebuild kit. Correct...? If so, are you sure that you fitted all the seals the right way round.

Try tieing the lever back to the bars overnight, it allows air to move back to the top of the system, should give a firm lever later, doesnt work if as Shtum says you got the seals the wrong way round.

Thanks for the suggestions. The seals were already fitted in the new piston kit. Difficult to guess which way they should fit as they are simetrical (I think).
I'll try again....
