Guys,

I have a 2004 1150gs adventure.

I just removed the bike cover and the clutch fluid housing was leaking, i removed the four screws only to find the rubber seal has expanded to almost double what it was.

What could cause this please help!

Rubber and related compounds ages just like us all :rob

O'rings and rubber based seals have a defined shelf life which can be shortened or lenghtened depending on exposures, like Temperature, sunlight, moisture etc,,,...did you leave the bike in a cold and/or damp'ish place over the winter period ?? (I used to see this fairly regularly in the oil & gas industry up here) Getting the occasional "duff" item where the compound has a flaw is not entirely uncommon.:(

What you describe sounds like what happens when an oring seal is subjected to gas and "gasses up" or expands well beyond normal. Strange really as I guess you bike has not been subjected to a "gassy" environment ?? (unless you are really into Guinness:aidan hehe...sorry)

Cheers
