Just fitted an HID kit bought via the for sale section to my 05 1200gs. Bulb in, plugs connected up correctly, ballast connected but not yet mounted etc but I am left with one wire which has been spliced and soldered into the red (live?) lead of the input side. Advice from seller is that it may need connecting to battery positive. tried that via a circuit tester which indicates that there is electrikery flowing but still no light (engine is running). Have I a dodgy kit or should this lead go elsewhere? I have seen a wiring diagram on google which shows a wire going to the canbus decoder (?)

Can anyone help? Do the bulbs blow? Any simple way of testing such as connecting direct to a 12v battery?

Regards
Bob

When you connected the kit into the bike's bulbholder-connector, did you get the + and - round the correct way?

Can't understand why you have a 'spare' wire; there's only two spade connectors to the bike's bulbholder, one large sealed connector to the ballast and two (handed) connectors to the burner. No other connections are needed.

there should be no spare wires, all should plug into eachother no prob the only loose wires are the ones that go into the h7 original bulb holder.as far as i am aware there is no such thing as a can bus decoder.
