Hi, long time since I've been on the forum, apologies for that - too busy riding :D

My 2009 GSA is getting a bit long in the tooth, with 53k on the clock; I was looking at upgrading to one of these new Watercooled, but I think they're a bit too pricey for me at the moment, so I'm looking at another year of saving before I can jump on one of those.

In the mean time, I see a lot of people talking about getting "Hilltop" done on their bike, which I understand to be some ECU remapping (bespoke for the bike). I have a few questions about it:
1, Does it need to be declared to your insurance company (officially)?

2, If you want to keep your BMW service stamps going, do you need to inform the service centre about it (in case they inadvertently mess with it)?

3, Has anyone had any *bad* experiences with it (from what I can tell, there are only good experiences)?

4, Is it likely to affect resale value on the bike (one way or the other)?

Many thanks all!

-Dino.

1) Technically yes, but how are they are going to know?
2) As above.
3) Unlikely
4) No, although in theory positive effect.

OP - Google "ukgser hilltop" and a huge amount of discussion will be laid out for you to spend all night wading through.

4) No, although in theory positive effect.

What more is there to say?

You'd be far better off getting a brand new bike :)

The Hilltop remap doesn't do anything to your bike, its all psychological. Spending upwards of £300 on the remap makes you believe that there are noticeable improvements, but there aren't. There aren't any. None at all. Its all imaginary. But at least riding your bike with the Hilltop imaginary remap will make you happy. Very happy :)

Very happy - but also £300+ poorer :-)

And for the avoidance of doubt, I am considering getting mine done some time soon - just as soon as I have accumulated the necessary funds...

Oye, get back to those sandwich making duties......:thumb

Bump - haven't seen a hilltop thread at the top of the leaderboard for a while. :D

That's because most people have come to their senses and realised that it's all whispers, funny handshakes, and mass hysteria :) Does that help?

You can't seem to help yourself ...
