Hooter not working

Anyone know if the hooter is fused, if it is where can i find the fuse.

It's not.
You have canbus....no fuses.

Disconnect the horn and run 12v directly to it from the battery, and back to an earth point (use a bit of 17 amp coax and you can do that easily to both poles of the battery at the same time)

If it doesn't make a noise, your horn is dead.

PS All this assumes that the OP has bog standard hooter, not a mega powerful Naughty Whatsit, which may have a relay to trigger it.

Now feeling completely inept, I can't remove the connector from the hooter, it's got some new fangled plug thing on it.

Ok, I've consulted the big book of all things GS-ish, and you should wait until tomorrow morning (after 11am, 'cos he spends the first half of the morning posting idle bollox here) then you should call 0208 546 2600.

The phone will be answered by a dodgy sounding geezer with the word 'Ello?'

This is in fact a code......your answer should be...."Ello, technical?"

At this point he will either hang up 'cos he doesn't want to speak to me, or he will chuckle and get you sorted out....He is the guru, the master, the oracle......

I have no idea how to part your plastic new fangled plug, that's way beyond my pay grade, but Steptoe will do it for you for a very modest sum :thumb2

PS he'll also bolt on a brand new hooter for you if you ask him and give him 20 minutes notice.....and he will enjoy doing so, I'm sure :)
 
The horn output is via a transistor in the ZFE. Usual problem is wire broken down by headstock. Check carefully, mine was broken on my RT.

The connector will either be a 'pinch & pull' type, or there will be a small white tab in a black connector which you need to pull away from the component, then pinch & pull. It's designed to be very tight so as to prevent water ingress, it could go off road!

There is no fuse, as someone rightly pointed out so it's either the wiring, switch, horn or the ZFE. Keep your fingers crossed its not the later!

You con do what someone else suggested, use a fused piece of wire though, just make your own circuit using the battery.

Just to straighten this old Can Bus debate....

Having a CanBus network really has no bearing as to whether or not you will have fuses. Cars have had CAN systems for years and they still have fuses!

The reason the GS has none is that there are not many consumers, few lights and a horn etc... so all the supplies for these consumers are done via a transistor. If there is a short on a line that is fed via a transistor it simply wont work, so no fire!
