Hot Airheads - Your PHOTOS please

Love this thread, it was a 1984 R100 that got me into BMW bikes in the first place.

My friend sent me this image recently of a bike she would like identified, and if possible, a rough year too. I think the sidecar is later. Apparently ridden every day by an elderly caretaker in Greece. Is it an R71?

If I win the lottery I'd track down an original R71 to restore, but it won't be like this :aidan

Very nice, but sort out that front mudguard, please! :augie

What'll happen when the wind gets under that...

A more upswept silencer would look better too IMHO.

(Fussy aren't I :D)

The front mudguard is as low as it can go with the fork brace and an 18" front wheel..............you have noted what the forks are....................? (and it's not mine!)

1973 R75/5 long wheelbase

Here is my totally refurbished R75/5. It had 2 previous owners and was laid up for a total 28 years before I bought it.

Interestingly this model was developed in the mid 1960s - first new model at Spandau, Berlin when factory opened there and an off-road version first was developed and did well in ISDT event. It was in 1980 that the R80GS we know now appeared.

I've kept this one original except for new windscreen as I ride all year round.

My main bike is of course a R1200GS Adventure (2010).

Safe Riding,
Mike

Nice

Is this your own work, or did you have somebody build it like this?

Just interested. Tell us a bit more about it please.

The frame is a job-work by Richard Schalber based on a R80GS frame.
Gas tank is made of aluminium more than 40 parts 30 liter, goes under the seat ( CCM seat ).
2. tank CCM 13 liter fitts also.
Frontfork white power usd 50 mm with job-work bridges ( don`t know how the component part is called which holds the fork on the steering head ).
Rear shock job-work by white power.
Rear end made by Fritz Witzel with yamaha WR450F fender and panels.
Front rim Exel.
Frontbreak brembo same as KTM.
After this winter with oil cooler and KTM front mask ( I´ll make new pictures).
Paralever R1100GS, final drive R850GS.
Motor R80GS with 1000ccm cylinder.
Gearbox with short 1st and long 5th gear.
And now with MV adjustable paralever-bar (?).
....
to be continued, unless I get a immoral offer ...
