My new cold record this morning at 7.00am the OBC registered......

minus 5.5 C and that felt cold right down to my thermal socks

Can anyone beat this?

Regards

Tim

-4 C outside the house dropping to -5 C on the way to work.

Car still had frost on it at 4pm when I went home...

Not quite so low, but more dramatic...

...riding in Morocco there's one place where the road goes through a gorge between Azrou and Midelt and there's often a severe temperature difference. In anticipation I was watching the temperature gauge and in the space of just 800m it fell from +4C to -7C, a massive 11C fall. Gobspacked doesn't adequately explain how I felt. The other side of the gorge the river was frozen solid.

N33 09.161 W5 04.016 if anyone's interested--there's a pic of the place on Google Earth.

ok, I hand my new record to fireman, well done:thumb2

we are due anywhere between 4 and 8 cms of snow tonight, should be fun in the morning.

Not a single flake here... Wife seriously pissed off cos she wants the snow experience, but hilariously my nipper's school advised us this afternoon that they will be closed tomorrow just in case it snows...:loopy

A little off thread!

Off piste but related. Sorry I'm new, so stay with me.

I was walking to work yesterday morning @ 6am when a guy on a scooter came sliding past doing around 10mph, both feet on the ground to keep the bike stable. I thought "he's either brave or stupid".
Then he hit a slight hill under Easton bridge; he slowed, started fishtailing badly forcing cars to slide onto the wrong side of the road. He was still sliding side to side when i walked past him.
was he just stupid?.

Remember guys, is it worth pranging your pride & joy if there are safer options?
Just a thought.

i have had enough now, IM A WELSHMAN NOT A BOOLDY ESKIMO!!

I know climate does not equal weather but come on global warming,, whats that all about.

Feck it im off to the pub:beer::beer::beerjug: and some :jager :thumb

Brief breakdown for you.

The hotter it gets, the more water vapour is produced. :eek

Causing more weather, in-turn disrupting our/the gulf-stream conveyor belt. Warming of the planet melts fresh water (glaciers) into the Ocean. Further disrupting the flow of warm water through the ocean depths. As fresh water is heavier than saline (actually it might be the other way around). :type

Finally someone that understands the thermohaline effect :thumb

It's a paradox but the melting the ice caps could trigger a new ice age because all that fresh water would switch off the gulf stream. To a small degree that is what has happened this year. The stream is weak, sun spot activity is low and the el nino has pushed warm water towards Japan thus disrupting the "norm" that we are used to.

-14C? I've been out in -25C near Kingussie.

Some of the kids up here go to school in T-shirts and trainers in that temperature.

They have to as their ned junkie parents have blown the family budget on heroin booze and fags.
