Hi, hope this info is of help to someone.
I normally run my bike through the winter but draw the line when it snows (in March!!). After a few weeks of inactivity, I went to start the bike and guess what? It wouldnt start. Not only this, the fuel pump kept kicking in and out and when I took the plugs out, they intermittently started to fire!! This is obviously without the engine running but with ignition in run mode. To cut a long story short, I managed to diagnose this down to one of the ignition pick ups - these control the fuel pump as well as the plugs!
BMW price £170.00 plus vat!! After numerous searches , I discover that Honeywell make a compatible sensor. This makes me very happy. However, what makes me very unhappy is that no one in the UK stocks them. As I am in the (electrical) trade, you can believe me when I say I tried. The only company that stocks them (for sale as single units) is Newark in the states at approx 15 quid each plus shipping. Then I find they are on 8 weeks back order!!
Enter CY sensors, an Asian company, based in Germany who manufacture their own compatible sensors. 25 euros for 2 sensors, delivered 4 days later - result!!
2 hours work to wire and fit, a couple of pounds worth of shrink tubing and mini crimps and job done!
The only disadvantage is that the company doesnt take card payments and require payment by transfer.
Incidentally, if anyone would like them fitting to the original mounting plate, I may consider doing it for them.
On another note, anyone got any experience repainting the engines on these things? The paint finish is crap and not up yo UK winters. Any (sensible)advice would be appreciated.

so went two bmw & paid up for a complete unit .
(£50) may repair the old unit as a spare
