Increased fuel consumption

I just thought I would share my experiences...
My R12GS had been using a lot of fuel - about 110 to a tank.
I was using iridium plugs. I switched back to standard and changed the air filter for good measure and the consumption shot up to 160 a tank - still not great but I found that one of the secondary plug connectors was broken, when I fix that I expect a return to 200 miles a tank.

Hi Rupert,

I take it we are talking about a real tank of fuel ie. a fill up of about 18 litres.. not as indicated on your fuel guage.... I have an 06 GS12, and I'm able get about 215 miles from 18 litres, on a very good day when I'm with my son on his 125 I'm able to get 250 miles from a tank, so 110 either means an R1 is probably better suited to your riding habits... or you have something wrong.

Something wrong there, for sure............

Work on 10 miles/ltr and you should be close.
