A problem has just developed on my 1150 with the indicators. It simply just turns on on its own, with no warning. Doesnt seem to be related to vibration due to road conditions and is potentially fatal when it switches from indicating right to indicating left. Any ideas anyone?

Flasher unit changed for another to no avail. Now removed and resorted to hand signals:dabone

Simon,

the indicators operate by shorting down to ground. The indicator module contains a Microcontroller that scans for one of four inputs being shorted to ground (Left indicator push, right indicator push, Hazard switch and indicator cancel) these switches are completely independent wires running between the switches and the base (socket) of the indicator unit. If you have swapped the unit then the chances are that you may have moisture in the indicator base unit or your indicator switches causing the unit to operate.

if the 1150 unit is at all like the airhead item (sounds like it is), they are affected by voltage spikes & variations causing similar random problems.

in my case sorting the connections on one apparently unrelated wire solved the problem. offending wire was part of the charging circuit.
