Hi had a couple of bulbs blow in the instrument panel, manual says they are 1.7 watt, they appear to be T5 capless bulbs. When I tried to get replacements I could only find 1.2watt, these are 5mm diameter bulbs, the original are 6mm.

I know I could fit the smaller 1.2watt or fit leds but wondered if anyone else have found the correct bulbs.

Thanks, Cook1e that was a quick reply. It certainly looks correct but as some 1.7watt capless are 10mm wide (T10?) Ill check with them before buying.

I have successfully used the smaller bulbs after a fruitless search for ones that "look like" the originals.

7mm that will be the cap size so too big for the instruments which are T5 5mm.

There's quite a bit of space in there but as Stewart says...

...they worked for me. :thumb

I'm going to get some of THESE in, and maybe try THESE as well.

thanks, DitchWater, Although there is a lot of space in there the larger cap size being 7mm wide I don,t think it will fit into the holder.

The led are an option, ( but I dont think your second option, the twin led will fit in) I bought and tried some blue ones but they were too dim though they looked really good, when driving I was unable to see the speed, it was as though you cant focus quickly on the blue?

It was when replacing the original bulbs that I found the failed ones though, I must admit with the one bulb in each they are still well illuminated. Like Stewart H says, the 1.2 watt ones, which are readily available, will no doubt do the trick.

Try it and see - it only takes 10 minutes.

Mine had a couple bulbs blown when I got it. I had a few Ducati bulbs lying around which are much smaller but they fit and they work just as well as the oe ones..

You may find that T5=5mm cap size & 7mm = lamp diameter (like you said originals were 6mm) - not sure. BMW OEM part number 62142306127.

Anyway, good luck.

As others have, I fitted the 1.2w ones that Halfords sell.

They work just fine and my eyes can't tell the difference in brightness. I did try led's but I found them too bright and distracting.

Can you remember how many bulbs are required in the rev counter? Mine has/have blown and I want to make sure I have enough once I've got everything in bits.

Thanks in advance :D

Many bike clock faces get damaged by heat if even a slightly larger bulb is used. I have LED bulbs in my other bike. Better lit instruments, no heat and no bright spots.
