Good morning Comrades,
Myself and a colleague are heading to The Free State this summer and have booked with Irish Ferries.
I usually use Stena and their people tie the bike down, is this the same with Irish Ferries please?
Many thanks in advance.

Yes this is the case, deck hand will strap it down.

In my case I remove my expensive seat and bungy it onto the tank or somewhere. And I usually supervise the strapping down (just for my bike, not everybody :D ). First gear selected.

So you don’t get caught out, the name has changed to
“The Very Expensive State” bring loads of Euros
Thanks, I visit regularly so am aware. I warned my mate who's coming with me but he doesn't seem to get it. He's already moaning about the cost of accommodation and I've been able to find stuff at very reasonable prices as I'm booking well ahead. Last year I just booked on a daily basis as I went along and the costs were eye-watering.
He's in for a shock despite my best efforts.

We’re going in July. 12 bikes, sailing from Fishguard this time for a change. Whilst not cheap we haven’t thought hotels etc particularly expensive either. The main concern for us is, will the weather play nicely in Wales? It never has in the past. We’ve been touring as a large group annually since around 2000. Mostly Scotland trips with a few Ireland and further afield in Europe. Wales has been visited 3 times and it has pissed it down each time. The lads refuse to go to wales on tour now. So it’s very much 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 for dry weather on the first day through to the ferry.

Yep, we're going via Holyhead. I fancied Fishguard for a change but he preferred to ride through Dublin despite my warnings.
We're spending a night in Betws-Y-Coed on the way so it will definitely sile down August Bank Holiday weekend.

you might get diverted to Liverpool as Holyhead is mostly a bit broken

Lovely, I’m sure it does have dry days but unfortunately we have never experienced them. Hopefully we will stay dry on our way to Fishguard in July.
We have been very lucky with the weather in Scotland over the years, only having one properly wet trip. Last year was very warm apart from the last day on our way home.
Personally I much prefer Scotland to wales for short 4-5 day trips if we’re not going over the water. It’s generally a bit quieter on the roads and it somehow feels more remote which I like.

I'd probably go to Scotland for a 5 day trip too for a change of scenery. Borders and D&G not further north unless away longer. Some of the best bits of Wales are on my doorstep but it helps to have decades of knowledge to stay away from the tourist traps when they are likely to be busy. I can find remote pretty easily.

I'm 10 miles into Wales from Shrewsbury. The first photo is in the Mach Loop just above Tal-Llyn lakes. Quiet today as no RAF action on weekends. About an hour from home.

The last photos are between Machynlleth and Llyn Clywedog, also about an hour from home. I stopped on the coast at Aberdyfi for fish and chips.

114 miles, probably out of the house 4 hours with lunch and photo stops. 11-16C.

I always thought you lived in That London. Or abroad (properly over The Channel abroad). Or both. But not Wales.

WTF? For over a decade it said Cheltenham under my posting name and I often posted pics of trips to Bibury and the Wye Valley. Then in 2023 it changed to Welshpool.

Have you considered spectacles?

You're not expecting a rational explanation are you?
