my dealer has said they have not sold as many 1050s as they were expecting to.

I think the problem with the 1050 is its spec against the completion such as the Tiger 800
The price at £9500 I feel is now about right

They should have put the 1050 engine and wizardry into the 990 Adventure type chassis/bodywork/wheels (with minor upgrades), with fully adjustable WP suspension etc ...................
the market for a proper big bore off road bike must be tiny. isn't it just a vocal few making a lot of noise out of proportion to real demand?

I think KTM missed a trick with the 1050
They should have put the 1050 engine and wizardry into the 990 Adventure type chassis/bodywork/wheels (with minor upgrades), with fully adjustable WP suspension etc and kept the 1190 & R, plus 1290 to take on the GS/GSA/Exp and the bike 1100cc+ Super Adv type tourers
With a trick 1050 - offroad 990 type they could take on the new Africa Twin et al and appeal to the more offroad riders
Ditching the 990 Adv has been a mistake, at the bottom cc end of the range![]()
I was just thinking aloud, maybe the 990 Adv style offroader has had its day
It's also the wizardry that is attracting new people to KTM. They are almost going to war over on the toilet section on whether they will be able to retro fit abs pro.not sure on that, I think its the wizardry etc with trick suspension, that has stoped many of the 950/990 types from even thinking about a change to one of the newer models.

It doesn't mater what it actually does or doesn't do. It has nothing to do with need but want.<hijack> regardless of whether you have ABS... isn't braking hard mid corner still going to ruin the bike dynamics and your ability to hold the line you were on?
Call me old fashioned, but I feel like 'needing' abs pro says more about riding ability than anything else...
I'm starting to sound like an airhead owner who smells of wee!
