Is the new GS a reliable bike?

If you want reliable all year round transport then buy a Honda, don't worry about chain/shaft drive - get a Honda Deauvillie don't buy a GS.

PS. I wouldn't be seen dead on a Dullsville.

Thanks everyone. Yes that's me on the www.versys1000.com forum. I didn't realise people surfed them all.

I'm certainly not slating any of the bikes. They all have their own character. Yesterday I bought a pre registered 2013 R1200GS TE that had just became available. I pick it up on Friday.

Can't wait. I usually go through bikes at quite a rate, changing every couple of years, I'm hoping the GS is a keeper (or my wife will kill me). I had an F800GS before the Versys and loved it.

Also looking forward to the debates on this forum.

What didn't you like about the Versys ?

Answer to the problem is, if it's a GS type bike that's wanted but without the numerous reported problems, Honda Crosstourer is the way to go ;-)

Each to their own. I just like my bikes where they don't catch fire, have stability issues at speed, rear shaft drive failures, electrical problems, manufacturer recalls etc etc all of which are greatly reported in the press, on line by their owners and journalists is all I'm saying ;-)

I must be mad then because I am on my 3rd 1200GS and will buy another without hesitation :D

No not at all, like I said each to their own. I didn't start the topic just contributing but others are obviously calling into question it's reliability already. Without all the bad press and reports I'd have probably gone for one but alas I'll never throw my leg over one as too delighted with what I have :-)

Because it's free and gives me something to read while I'm taking a shit.
Well that's me done, back on tomorrow morning unless this curry I've just had plays havoc
:-D

What a total load of bollocks.

Really? Only formed my opinion due to what I've read online, in the press and been told on numerous forums. I have been actually looking into BMW for a little while now hence being on here as I had my eye on buying the new RnineT when it comes out later this year but I am getting too much negativity Re feedback & so I don't think I can commit to one which is a shame as I love the look :-/
