Is the new GS a reliable bike?

Of course I do..... but I don't go shitting on other peoples doorsteps

Eh? Think you need to Re read that it don't make sense. I'm on my own toilet not shitting on my doorstep or anyone else's for that matter. Anyway I've almost finished laying cable so catch you later.
Coor that's a smelly one phew !

Really? Only formed my opinion due to what I've read online, in the press and been told on numerous forums. I have been actually looking into BMW for a little while now hence being on here as I had my eye on buying the new RnineT when it comes out later this year but I am getting too much negativity Re feedback & so I don't think I can commit to one which is a shame as I love the look :-/

:troll2

I suppose I'd be bitter and resentful if I had bought a bike which had quite such a bad reputation too but alas I didn't. Ride safe mate regardless of what you own.

You need to get out more! BMW have sold thousands if the things whereas the only place you see the Versys 1000 is sitting unused and unloved at the dealers. I saw them at every Kawasaki dealer we visited during our recent marketing tour. Worthy bikes I am sure but not many actually out there being used.

Is that the best you can do - Trolling is not what it used to be :augie

Yes I know I see more Bmw GS bikes than I see Vauxhall Astra vans, great marketing dept BMW most surely have.
As for the Versys, that's another bike I wouldn't be seen dead on but for reasons other that recalls,, reliability and equipment failures but mainly because it's fugly with capital F

Your too funny.:) Are you in jail? :arselick: You need to get out of the bathroom more, get outside and see things for yourself. :thumb2

Going back to the OP's original question...

Triumphs Explorer has had it's share of problems as well. At my work amongst the various different types of bikes 3 have Explorers and there are 3 GS's. All fairly high mileage riders and guess which make has had the most problems? Side stand bolt broke off one, throttle bodies changed on 2 and both now waiting to go back to the factory for more work. Potentiometer (?) gone again on one so it won't start on the odd occasion. Rust on many fastenings and exhaust, not very good for a bike that's design brief was to be more reliable than the GS it was pitched against!!

S10 has rave reviews for reliability but it's overpriced for what it is and the Cross dresser is ugly and, well a Honda!!

Late model Twin Cam? most of the previous problems solved? best of the bunch? maybe? We can't all be blinkered fools, can we?

If that's the only reason to not have a Crosstourer because it's perceived by some to be ugly and made by Honda, then that's great news. Shame you couldn't actually bring to the argument some anecdotal evidence like they are unreliable, build quality is awful, terrible engine etc etc . And resorting to name calling (of the actual bike ) well I did a little wee when I laughed so much - brilliant :-D

So glad my mind is made up not to buy the new RnineT as despite ending up with a bike that probably going to break down many times like its stable mates, I'd really hate to be tarred with the "typical BMW Driver/Rider" badge as that would just add insult to injury :-)

It's okay, don't feel embarrassed... you can call me Paul :kissy2

Surely you mean precede? Or are there other proceeds you would like to bring to the table :comfort

Yeah you got me there, spelling and overriding spell checker on my phone while I'm trying to drop the kids off at the pool is all too much. Well spotted xx

The new GS is such a pile of old crap that it has outsold every other big 'adventure' bike in the UK for every single month since it was launched - go figure that one out :D
