Persoanlly I've not seen Ding-Dong bitch and whineWhat I see is somebody who really likes what is essentially a very good bike and is frustrated by knowing that his bike could and should be a lot better. He strikes me as being measured, persistant and determined to get what he ultimatly wants. What's wrong with that?
Whereas your ill-informed coomments re, for example but not exclusivley, KTM's 1190 come across very much as bitchy and whingey.

and I'll offer an explanation as to why he's a whiner :
he thinks his bike is a piece of crap.
he goes into minute detail here about HOW he thinks that his bike is crap.
he details ,with full and better particulars , all his struggles with big bad BMW.
he is adamant that his bike is rubbish , and that people who think that its fine is a troll.
when he is proferred advice that in that case , since he is so sure that his bike is crap , to get it assessed independently by an expert and sue his dealer (since he has no contract with BMW , but has one with his selling dealer) ... silence.
so , yeah , he's a whiner.
carry on.
Asking for your money back JB is not as easy as you think, BMW UK are adamant there is no problem, the dealers are the middle men taking the grief from buyers, i feel for some dealers especially mine as they are really helpful but there hands are tied by BMW UK and if BMW say its character of the bike/engine than a dealer cannot do anything.
I'd be happy to take legal action against BMW Uk but for the shit to stick you would need several bods and one good solicitor otherwise the cost to do so outweighs just selling the bike at a loss and walking, plus taking action takes time. My case alone would be a good one, starting from my original complaint bike, plus the fact if it gets in the papers especially MCN than it will create a lot of problems for BMW.
It really is flawed. By offering such a low price, this particular dealer has brought light to the fact that a bike with a replacement engine will be worth far less than one with the original engine.
If I was in the same position, there's no way I'd accept a new engine.![]()

It is a £15000 plus motorcycle not a chinese moped , it is supposed to have been extensively developed and prototyped by its allegedly prestige manufacturer . It all comes down to the range having faults which should not be there.
Why is it expecting too much to have a very expensive motorcycle that has a top of the range finish, has a slick gearbox, compliant suspension and is fully developed on release to the general public
Completely agree. The WC is a bike best avoided. Judging by the reports from owners, it's probably one of the worst bikes BMW has ever made and one of the most problematic bikes currently in production.

Utter bollox - it is the best GS to date and their biggest sales success ever - you really shouldn't take notice of all the dross you read on Internet forums - the real World is far closer to the truth.
P.S. How many miles have you ridden on the new LC?
I'm not sure sales figures can be taken as a measure of the product's quality. A lot of folk were probably mesmerised by early magazine reviews and rushed out to buy a bike hailed as a fantastic piece of equipment. I rushed out and test rode one, I was completely underwhelmed by the gearbox and the quality of the switchgear. I got back on my TC and resolved that the WC was not as well sorted as its predecessor.
I can understand the anger and rage in those that have purchased an underdeveloped, unreliable product and are now left to champion it's cause. Those that still have £15k of hard earned cash in their bank account I suspect will be extremely wary of putting it down on one of these things.
There's no doubt that when a WC is running, it runs very well, exhibiting fine power and handling characteristics. It's a different matter when it's sat in dealership stripped back to the frame awaiting an engine or gearbox (or both).
