JB & Ikkje ride again ….!!!

Well you should have filled up in the U.K. then. It’s the only way,I read it on here 😂😂😂.
We did ……It didn’t last long enough though, for some reason

Do you get more mpg with French essence sans plomb, in comparison to English E10 unleaded ?

It’s a mystery

Also there’s no manned petrol stations in France …..it’s a bloody disgrace

Just 24/24

95 RON E5 is fairly common in France away from Total garages (always E1095). You'll get a few more mpg from E5 but not much.

Plenty of petrol stations about with cash desks. Mostly Total Access branded. Although they will often have a robot for out of hours.

Did I mention Mark has a brilliant knack of choosing great places to stay

For our 3 nights in Salers we have this 17th century apartment which is massive, beautifully furnished and extremely quirky

It has about 6-7 rooms in total and is about 3-4 times bigger than my 4 bed house at home

All for £110 per night - so just £55 each

So, where were we ….

Yesterday we had a ride our to Puy Mary - reputed to be France’s largest volcano and the spectacle didn’t disappoint

However we did make a schoolboy error and arrived on Friday at a mountain village and we were low on fuel

So it was a 30 mile trip to get fuel first 🙈

On the way up to Puy Mary we stopped for coffee and that then turned into lunch at Auberge Col de Neronné as I had a chain lube malfunction too

So, Madamé was very helpful with industrial cleaning products from the kitchen to clean me up, we decided it was decent thing to stop for lunch and delicious it was too

Oh well …onwards to Puy Mary & the pics can do the talking

We can back down the valleé de Falgoux and it afforded more great views

At least your crap XT seems to be working:

img_0622-jpeg.447135

Speed set to kilometres per hour.

Road currently on is the D63.

Next turn is left onto the D12.

Arrival time estimated at 5:23 PM.

Not really Richard and whilst it might be user error, the XT’s were only used for secondary back up and our main nav was the Beeline Moto II which performed flawlessly. The most frustrating time with the Garmins was the day’s route showing up perfectly on the unit and then when you press go, being reduced to about 7kM’s. As I said though, the frustration with them might well be down to lack of expertise. The Beeline? You get probably 8% of the information on the screen, but enough to keep you going where you planned to, and more importantly, 92% less frustration as it just seems to work. Downsides? The planning is not as easy as MyRoute App.

Point to point is fine
It’s the pre planned round robin that’s not behaving

Hey Ho I still have my Michelin map of the Auvergne on the tank to fall back on & it works

OK.

I’ve copied and editted this post into the GPS section. Maybe we can come up with the cure? It does sound a bit like user error, but we’ll see. I think it’s worthwhile as my XT (and the XT’s of others) is working near enough perfectly, up to running quite complex bespoke routes.
