Hi all,

Haven't seem any pics of the new 2014 model yet so I thought I'd share.

(all 2014 models come with a free black cat attached to the centre stand - its in place of a reliable alarm apparently?)

More pics here if you are interested: linky

I just traded up from the F650GS (twin) and I have to say the LC is absolutely brilliant.

I only have 200 miles on the clock so its early days but I haven't had any issues with clutch, etc.

The seat is comfy, fuel range looks to be decent (estimated at 230 for a tank), ESA is a revelation and cruise control - how did I live without it?? ;)

I'm still coming to terms with cornering on a big heavy brute compared to my little 650 (I'm 5' 8" and 10 stone) but right now I cannot think of a single thing I would change about this bike - it's amazing :D

That said - I was very sad to see the wee 650 go - we had 5 years of fun together and it never put a foot wrong - hope the LC keeps up to that reliability record....

Cheers Paul!

Thanks mate!! Still getting used to it - it's an amazing bit of kit :)

Not sure if flickr link works so I'll bung the pics in here:

These new liquid cooled bikes appear to have an excess of wetness :D:D

Looks gorgeous. Apparently the 2014 blue ones are the next best thing to the 2013 red ones ;-)

nice!

Glad I got to the christen the pillion seat Mike ;) Good colour choice...might not be far behind ye!

Is that the low chassis model? I borrowed a demo bike overnight last week and was impressed that at 5' 9" with a 30" inside leg (on a good day...) that I could my feet down better, even with the seat on the high setting, than I can on my twin cam with its low Sargent seat. Then I learned that it was a low chassis model.... It didn't appear to be so obviously lowered as the previous vertically challenged model.

So now I have something of a dilemma - do I buy a low chassis model or get the standard height and fit a low seat? Having tried the standard seat in the low position, I much preferred the knee bend with it on the high setting. I've always been critical of lowered bikes in the past because of the potential for compromised suspension geometry. Perhaps it's time to revise that opinion before I tackle the issue of getting a good deal on a 2013 bike vs. waiting and paying more for a 2014 model.

That blue has grown on me at first i was not liking it but now my nxt one will be blue.

Schtum, I'm 5'7" 29 inside leg stock chassis height and seat on low position and it was ok'ish on tip toes than i brought a BMW low seat that made a huge difference and for some reason it was far more comfortable 675 miles in a day and my ass was fine, I'd avoid factory low bikes come resale dealers don't want them and there hard to shift privately.

Nice on Mike. Was with Si the other day and he told me you'd purchased. Sent you a linked in request to see how you were getting on with it but I guess you're happy enough! Let me know how you get on with the hawk lights :beerjug: good luck with the bike.

Very nice, but I think you will find the white shock is a white spring. The shock is the black thing inside it :blast

Very nice.:beerjug: After thunder grey, my next choice would be blue.:rob:thumb

Sorry Mike, looks better in white ?

Hi Mike, Glad your chuffed with the new LC.
Slightly biased as I've got a white one.
2000 miles so far and enjoying every mile of it. They say the red ones are the fastest, but I am not to sure ?
Not sure about the top box though, I've got the varios and they suit the bike well, typical BMW I suppose.

Enjoy :beerjug:

Hi Mike bike is looking good like the blue too although I have a red one as I wasn't sure about the blue when I ordered!

Sure you won't take long to get used to the bike it's 'Great'

Replies to you all :D

P1lts: I heard that too - when I grow up I might get a "proper" red one.... ;) Red looks brill on this bike too mate - in fact I loved all the colours but I haven't seen anyone else with a blue one so I wanted to be 1st!

Si: Come on mate - put the orange tinted glasses away, you know you want one!!

Photoguy: I want to lie at this point and say it was raining, but no, in actual fact I found a microdot of dirt on it, so felt I had to wash the whole bike.... anyone got a number for "OCD Anonymous"?

Schtum: Nope thats bog standard suspension with seat on "low" - I have a 32" inside leg so I can pretty comfortably plant my feet but not quite flat on both sides at once. If I hadn't been riding the 650 for 5 years, and had just come to the GS straight from sports bikes, it would be WAY too tall but I'm used to the taller adventure bike now and it doesn't scare me.....much..... ;)

er-minio: Thanks! A D5000 with a 35mm is all you need, it even makes me look almost competent as a photographer ;)

David G: Thanks mate - I heard about yours....clumsy... ;) Will add you on LinkedIn now. Hawk lights and SW crash bars on order.

stever1: OOOoooops. Fair point, well made!

Nutty GSer: It looks so much nicer when you are standing beside it. The grey looks great too but I wanted something a bit different :D

Russ @ No.7: Whichever colour I ride is always the slowest - ask Si! Yeah thats the top box I had on my 650. It's a cheapy crappo one from eBay but it fits 2 full size helmets and I managed to bodge my own rack together with some alu plate and a bit of McGuiver-ing. I was about to get one from BMW but it's £400 and it's only 35L fully expanded. Also - I have already modified my top box with a 12v power socket so it's bloody handy for long trips :D

I am 5ft 8in with 29' leg I have the standard chassis with the low seat which I use I'm the high position normally and in the low position with my AirHawk cushion when fully loaded. Back today from the Black Forest and this worked well giving me more confidence when 2up and loaded up. I was lucky and got both seats with my bike but so far I haven't used the standard seat!

Nice!

I'm 750 miles on my white 2014 and it's just had it's 1st Service.

Lovin' it.

In 'white' however....
