I believe that the new MO for the tensioner on the 1150GS is to use the piston, screwplug and O'ring only and not as before the extra middle 'small' piece between piston and plug (name forgotten).

Is that correct?

Its a whole new tensioner, there is no spring in it, excellent write up over on Advrider. [wisdom}

hi,

I replaced the orig one with :
CAMCHAIN TENSIONER
The enhanced one is the following:
01 LEFT CHAIN TENSIONER SET 11312325563

This should get you a new cap, spring and plunger, possibly the oil-sealing washer but no matter, old one works.

There are good write-ups on the best way to change it, only loosen the lh throttle body and twist out of way. Telelever STAYS PUT !

The new type piston is spring loaded internally

Rugged,

I think you are right, spring is inside the new type. Trying to remember.
Will email you a file from ADVrider, pictorial. The hard part is getting the old plunger out, I used a bent wire much as the pictorial shows. Tricky but worked out.

Shukran Bin Ridin and ebbo,

Bin Ridin,
Flying back Friday (lousy vacation). Any plans for the Eid holidays?

Also, I am hoping they will allow me to bring back a Hawker Odyssey battery as part of my cargo luggage. It is IATA approved for air shipment but, I suppose it depends who is on the check-in desk.
