Let's go again. :)

I’d be happy to attend Sid @Crapaud .
However this is to be confirmed yet, due to workload and other trips/holiday commitments within relatively short time apart. If there is a small room I could bag, then that would be great, if not, I could do camping somewhere in the shade.

Can you please remind us the dates for the event?

Cheers

EV
Hi Sid (@Crapaud) so this is now confirmed. I shall be attending the event as wife has given me a green light to go.
Arriving late afternoon on Wednesday, would love to attend the medieval fest too.
Unfortunately I will likely need to be leaving on Sunday in order to catch a mid morning ferry back home on Monday.

As mentioned before, I am happy to camp under a tree or somewhere out in the shaded area.

Now let’s book these ditch crossing tickets.

Hi everyone a few updates and answers to various questions.
1. All are welcome and you can bring whatever friends and family you want.
2. There is no cut off date so if you decide at the very last minute that you want to join us just turn up.
3. B&Bs. Please sort yourselves out. I have enough to do without acting as a travel agent.
4. Camping. We have 17 acres of land so there is plenty of room for everyone to be spread out. Any snoring will be drowned out by the millions of noisy frogs in the lake. And that's real frogs not my French neighbours.
5. Early arrivals. No problem. Just let me know in case we have gone out shopping etc. Early arrivals will be put to work! Possibly help with gardening but any tradesmen especially welcome.

Unfortunately I have not been 100% recently. I did Mega Mondo in Spain with Austin Vince in early June. One evening, whilst wearing crocs, I slipped and fell 4m from a bridge on to rocks. Amazingly no broken bones but lots of cuts and bruises. My wonderful wife Ann drove for 6 hours to come and recover me. I have been very weak since and blue lighted to hospital twice in recent weeks. I have suffered various internal injuries including damage to pancreas and gallbladder. I spend most days just sleeping. (Like my cats) and have lost 4kg in the last few weeks.
Anyway, the show must go on but we won't be as ready as usual. However as usual I know that everyone will muck in and help and we will still have an awesome party.

Bugger. It is amazing what injuries you do not get see on the inside, despite the appearances on the outside.
Get well soon Sid and I am looking forward to meeting you in just over a months time.

Jeez, that's not great, sorry to read it but at least you're still in one piece, sort of.
Take care of yourself.

+ 1 Sid,

We don't bounce as well as we get into middle age :(

Get well soon
See you on the 14th/15th

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Sid. Looking forward to seeing you on 15th Aug

Our bodies are precious and hope you recover soon.

Damn Sid you go steady and get yourself sorted and dont worry about things getting done, the big gal and i will be arriving monday /tuesday all being well so set us to work.

jesus!!! what are you doing wearing crocs where you can slip and fall 4m!!! it doesn't sound high, but for anyone reading this 4m is higher than you think if you are standing at the top of 4m!

Take care and get well soon!!!

4m the equivalent of falling out of a bedroom window. Thereabouts

People have died falling from less height, someone had your back that time Sid :thumb

Speedy recovery Sid.

My current plan is to arrive on Thursday 15th (late afternoon-ish) so more than happy to lend a hand.

Ok folks, a few updates.
1. Unfortunately they have moved the medeval night parade from the Thursday to the Friday night. We are already committed to attend the Beauville night time event on Friday night so can't do both.
2. Rooms in house have now been alocated. However, as last year, we will have five mattresses in the games room available on a first come basis. Could possibly sqjeeze in a few more. Very popular last year when a storm hit.
3. Special diets/veggies. Some of our local friends are veggies (and we still invite them!) so no problem. Simon our chef totally caters for this and has a separate bbq grill for these. Obviously, if you wantto bring anything special then Simon will cook it for you. We will try to provide a veggie option where possible. Veggie kebabs etc? Open to suggestions.
4. I'm very slowly recovering but still sleeping a lot of the time.

Thats it for now. See you all next month.

2023 was a great success so let's do it all again in 2024, 15th - 18th August.

Very similar format but with a few minor changes.

We are starting on Thursday as the Medieval Festival is on the Thursday night in Monflanquin. See last years event for pictures. This really is an awesme event and all free of charge. Those who came this year said it was one of the highlights of their trip.

Apart from that, it's pretty much the same.

Friday will again be a decent ride out of the surrounding superb roads visiting numerous interesting sights. Friday night we will ride to the event in the beautiful town of Beauville for food, drink and entertainment. I will again arrange for safe VIP parking for all our bikes.

Saturday is Chill Out time. Relax by/in the pool and recharge yourself. Our excellent chef, Sumprat will be cooking and plenty of drinks will be provided.
A fully equipped workshop is available with tyre changing facilities. But this doesn't mean you should ride here on a bald tyre (no names!).

Saturday night is the Grand Party with many of our local friends ad neighbours in attendance. After dinner, we will have a range of entertainment from professional singers to happy amateurs.

Sunday will include another ride out.

There is lots of place for camping. A few beds available both in the house and in the games room. There are gites and Air B&Bs available nearby. The nearest village is Dausse.

Any questions, just ask.

Sid

Good morning Sid

Steve (Skid) has told me many times what a great time he had last year so if it's OK with you I'll be joining him and EV.

Hope you're recovering from your fall and looking forward to meeting you all.

Not long to go

Steve C

Right then, got back home on Sunday night

Massive thanks to Sid and Ann for putting on the weekend, hosting everyone, feeding everyone, getting a few people pissed, organizing VIP parking at Beauville and making Sumprat cook all weekend :D

Had a great weekend and met some luverly people, nice to put faces to names and chat “in the real world” :beerjug:

Special mention to Flipfly for a wonderful private gazebo gig for the few lucky stragglers on Saturday night :clap

Bon vent mes amis ✌️

Yes, I'd like to echo all of the above please.
Massive thanks to Sid, Ann and sumprat of course but also 'Le comité des spécialistes du gonflage de pneus' - you know who you are. :D

Thanks again everyone it was great to meet you all.
Take care and stay safe Comrades.

Finally back home after a truly lovely week.

I had such a great time. Ann worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone was well looked after and I can honestly say I have never felt more welcome nor been so well looked after.

The catering was top class, the camping and location exceptional, the company superb and the weather and riding awesome. I honestly could not have asked for more, it was perfect.

Thank you so much to everyone who put the effort into making it such a success (you know who you all are) but especially Sid and Ann who's generosity and kindness made it all possible.
