Your ears must have been burning! I told the blokes I had an on line buddy In north Wales that would be a guide for beer, petrol and flowers for the missus money !!

great ride

nice to see you are treating the old bike with respect, just change the oil and give it a good thrashing .good to see you have made the move to the muddy side . will have to meet up in the future for a ride .......... maybe a rally or two cheers peter

Nice one Giles, I have to take issue with "feck all imagination" though I had peas one night and cauliflower the next. That is life on the edge!!!

You ride on the edge yer hooligan ..... :rob

(apart from when yer on tarmac and then yer just a big girl .... ). :thumb

Great write up and photos Giles, well done to all those who started and particularly to those who finished - even one of our marshals got swept away on Strata when they were opening the course on the Saturday morning :).

I really enjoy reading riders reports as I'm always stuck at the start of a special stage (doing the timing in a Black Freelander at the start of the tougher special stage) and don't get to see the actual event.

Nice to see a HP2 going around, and sounding great and those who ride the BIG big bikes deserve special medals.

I was up in North Wales, near Bala, timing a traditional WOR time-card enduro this Sunday (21st) and can recommend their events for relative newcomers - short laps (12 miles) - and challenging but not too tough. Three young lads aged 12, 12 & 13, on small wheeled MX bikes finished the course with one of them doing faster times than many "Sportsmen" and one young lad almost an hour late but determined to finish no matter what, a real enduro rider.

brilliant write up :thumb2
i'm almost inspired to give that a go but fear my off road skills are somewhat missing in action for a good few years now

Excellent stuff - very entertaining and it gives a real idea of what it must be like to enter an event like that. Thanks! :beerjug:

Thanks to yourself and others for giving up their spare time Bob :thumb2, was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend

How much of the route is accessible all year?

Only the tarmac roads & Strata Florida track are rights of way and accessable at any time, the rest of the course is within private forestries for which we have to pay a fee per bike to ride in, along with another fee per bike for insurance and another fee to insure the forests!

Please don't ever be tempted to ride any events route, ours or any other clubs, after the event as it will threaten the use of the land for future events.

Giles, really enjoyed that, Strata Florida brings back some wonderful trail riding memories from late 80`s .Same area i think we did Monks Trod on that trip very muddy.:D:thumb

Thanks for posting.

Talking to Giles earlier today really inspired me ................

...............to read this report. :D
