Lowered GS to Standard/GSA

I had assumed the lowered bike just has shorter shocks, given you lose 30mm of suspension travel each end. Prolly got shorter centre and side stands to suit. There's a high front seat option which puts a standard GS seat to 870/890mm. With a lowered bike, that equates to 840/860mm.

That sounds very expensive got a price

Around 1,300 that's a brand new set of WESA shocks and fitted in the factory unit. Not just changing springs on your originals.
I know it sounds a lot , but remembering the difference between riding an 06 with wilbers Its night and day difference.

That doesn't sound to bad
And what do you mean fitted in the factory unit ??

the lowered bike is the same frame as the standard, but it has a shorter centre stand and side stand, you will need to change these if you raise the bike back to standard with new shocks

I know I already got myself a longer side stand the centre one can wait a bit

Being a Boxer, you should park it on the centre stand to prevent the oil running into the one pot, I parked mine on the side for a couple of hours when hot... It smoked like a train when I started it up .... If you leave it for a few days beware of the fact that one pot will be lacking oil when you fire it up. Have a read up on it, BMW recommend using the centre stand for a reason.

I know that I still use the centre stand when parking for any length of time and will continue to use it when I get the shocks changed albiet the shorter one until I can get my hands on a standard length one

Im sure they will and if you have the mechanical know how , im sure it will be fine

Glad to hear
Yh I bought a set of second hand ones and with the luck I have they turned out to be lowered aswell so I know how to get them in. And out no problem

Might be totally daft question, but is it possible to lower a standard-height GSA ?

Yes, buy guy's (above) spare set of low shocks and get 'em fitted, you will need to mod (chop) or replace your side & centre stands...think that's about it. :thumb2

Hmmm... on a GSA1200 LC ? Sounds reasonable in principle though.

If it were me, I would chop it in against a proper factory lowered bike, then everything is correct at sale time ... including the log-book!

I ride a factory lowered bike, and it is a superb thing!

I agree, much better for future sales.
