Lowering a 1200 gs

Could anyone please give some advise as to how to lower a 2005 1200 gs? Its a lovely bike but finding it just a little too tall, ive got the seat on the lowest setting but just feel that the bike itself needs to come down at least an inch maybe two. Dont know if it makes a differance but it also has abs,

I tried a lowered BMW at a Essex BMW dealers while they were messing up a last service...

Anyway to the point, the loan bike they gave me was a lowered R1200GS.

I have to say, it's the most uncomfortable bike I have ever ridden. In fact after 20 miles I could have cried I hurt so much.

I felt cramp in my legs and the seat had so little padding that I think I broke my coxxic!

If you find the riding position OK on your bike, I think I would try and find some boots with a thicker sole to give you that better contact when stationary.

It might be a more cost effective solution without reducing the comfort or ground clearance of your bike.

The sargent seat is an inch lower as standard - and many think an excellent alternative or even a must-have.

Factory supplied low seats are nearly always horrible - if you want your OE seat skimmed down by an inch or two then have it done by a professional. plenty mentioned and recommended on this site - it is possible to have a lower seat and lose nothing in the comfort.

Might be an idea to fit set backs - which will move the bars closer to you and maybe be of some help.

The alternative - shocks and such can be expensive.. try the cheaper fixes first.
