Ludicrous Garmin Prices

How can they justify £47.99 list price for a bit of wire, and inline fuse and a 12->5v converter!
I guess because its got a unique end on it and THEY CAN - THE ******.

I would imagine that the parts are readily available from somewhere like Maplins. If you are successful how about posting up the instructions and some photos of the procedure for the benefit of the collective.

Its the same as rally raid selling an accessory socket for £32 when it can be bought for £4 on ebay and £ 9 from louis !

I did the same for my Tomtom. A local market was selling the plugs you put into a cigarette socket with a 5v out put cable for £2.99 so i bought one of them then wired in a relay and cigarette type socket to the bike. Never had any issue with it

I was wondering the same about Ram Mounts.

Saying that, they seem to be good value compared to your cable.

Can do it with this and any old usb cable you don't want, just cut the opposite end off the find the 5VDC output pair of cable, 2 mins and it's done

The first one linked to is only able to output 700mA - not sure what the Garmin needs but that is generally borderline for an iPad - look around and you'll find a 1000mA versions. Griffin do one with both high and low outputs ie 2 usb sockets
